I don't own Pride and Prejudice
"How long is she going to be here?" Caroline wined. Sitting down in a winged backed chair.
"Until the Dr. Says she can go home and you'll be nice." Elizabeth told her.
Caroline sulked at the set down.
Ma'am a Mrs. Bennet and her two daughter a Miss Catherine and Miss Lydia Bennet are here." The housekeeper said addressing Elizabeth.
"Oh great." Caroline huffed.
"Caroline." Darcy shot her a warning look.
"Send them in Mrs. Packard." Elizabeth smiled she smoothed out her skirts as she waited for their unexpected guest.
"Oh Lady Elizabeth I'm all aflutter how is my dear Jane." Mrs. Bennet came into the parlor fluttering her hands in distress.
"She's fine Mrs. Bennet just a cold and the Dr. doesn't want her to be moved but I assure you she'll make a full recovery.
"Oh thank the lord." She pressed her hand to her bosom. "Lady Elizabeth I don't believe you've had the pleasure of meeting my youngest daughters. "Miss Catherine and Miss Lydia."
"It's a pleasure." Elizabeth smiled at them.
"My lady." They smiled curtsying.
Elizabeth listened to Mrs. Bennet prattle on for hours. And once again she wondered how Jane Bennet had come from this woman. Finally she left taking her two odious daughters with her.
"If I had to hear one more time about the Militia coming to Maryton I think I may have screamed." Elizabeth said sinking into her chair.
"Now lets not be over dramatic Lizzie." Darcy chuckled.
"No I'll leave that to Mrs. Bennet. "You'd think Jane was dying the way she was going on."
"She was just happy to have her daughter being stuck in the house with Bingly Fitzwilliam and Darcy." Georgiana snorted. "I think she actually hoped her daughter would get sick. "
"What a horrible thing to say." Caroline said scandalized causing Georgiana to roll her eyes behind the fan she'd just opened. Elizabeth bit her lip to stifle her laughter.
"Well I think I'm going to head upstairs to check on Jane." She stood up and headed towards the stairs knocking lightly on the door she pushed it open and looked into the room.
"How are you feeling Miss Bennet."
"Better thank you. Was that my mother I heard down stairs?"
"Yes, she was worried about you."
"I'm sorry about her."
"Oh don't worry." Elizabeth waved away her worry.
"You're too good to me Lady Elizabeth."
"Think nothing of it Miss Bennet we're friends I'd like to think."
"I'd like that." Jane smiled.
"Me to." Elizabeth pattered her on the hand.
"How is she?" Darcy asked as Elizabeth walked into the room and sat down.
"She's better I think she'll be able to go back to Longbourn soon. Where are the others?" she looked around and noticed that her and Darcy were alone.
"Caroline pleaded a headache. Charles had to deal with some correspondence and I believe Richard and Georgiana and Richard are somewhere in the garden's taking in some fresh air."
"I'm sure." Elizabeth said under her breath. "You know what fresh air sounds good would you like to take a turn with me?"
"Sure." Darcy stood up putting his book down her extended his hand. "Well dear cousin let's take a stroll around the gardens." Leading her out into the sunshine she held his elbow as they walked down the paved walks. The fresh breeze blowing against her cheeks.
"This feels lovely." She breathed not noticing that Darcy was watching her every move. Shaking his head he addressed her. "Yes it does." They came around a curve and almost ran into Georgian and Richard.
"Oh." Georgiana drew up short. "Sorry." She giggled.
"No it was our fault." Elizabeth laughed.
"completely ours." Georgiana said.
"Ok ladies lets not fight over something so silly." Richard laughed. Causing Georgiana to poke him in the ribs with her Elbow and William to burst into laughter.
The laughter in the garden's drew Caroline to her window as she looked down into the garden and scowled. It wasn't fair. She was so close to the Fitzwilliam's and the Darcy's but yet so far away as if separated by a thick glass. And she hated Lady Elizabeth and Miss Darcy with a passion but had to bite her tongue because saying anything against them wouldn't be a good thing. They could ruin her with a flick of their wrist's but she wouldn't let them. She had to play the game but soon she'd be the winner.
A/N Sorry for the long long wait. Thanks to everyone that reviewed. Now What in the world is Caroline up to? you'll just have to wait and see.
