Chapter 19

After leaving his sister and Rose to do…whatever they were going to do, and taking a shower (which due to his hair, took longer than any of his fellow X-men, except perhaps Mr. McCoy), Kurt dressed in his regular street clothes and secured his image inducer to his wrist.

Checking himself in the mirror, to ensure the inducer was working, Kurt took a deep breath…

…and disappeared from his room with a bamft, to reappear in an alleyway near White Owl.

After finishing her shower, which only took about fifteen minutes, and dressing, Rogue led Rose out onto the lawn of the institute, by the gazebo overlooking the cliff.

Once there, Rose gave Rogue the food she'd made, which Rose enjoyed immensely.

"It's not bad," Rogue said, after finishing the meal. With a smirk she added, "Not as good as ah true Mississippian could make of course, but not bad." Rose playfully glared at Rogue, cause the mutant to smile and lean in to give the girl a kiss. Pulling back, Rogue added, "With some practice though, yah might just be able ta pass yerself off as one though."

"Glad to hear it," Rose said, before pulling Rogue onto her lap, and kissing her again.

Rogue groaned as their tongues met, and relished in the feeling of skin on skin as Rose hands reached under her shirt to caress her back.

Having feared skin on skin contact since her powers had emerged, it was almost as intoxicating as their passionate kissing that Rose was able to touch her without harm.

The mutant groaned as rose pulled away from her lips, only to moan in satisfaction as Rose began kissing her throat. "Rooosse," Rogue moaned, closing her eyes.

She could feel the witch smile against her skin as she continued to worship the southerner's neck.

"I trust I'm not interrupting anything important," a voice said from nearby.

A voice that Rogue immediately recognized, and had the same effect as pouring ice cold water over her on the young woman. Rogue hastily pulled herself away from Rose, as both she and Rose glared at Mystique.

"As a matter of fact you are," Rose said, somewhat icily as she crossed her arms.

Rogue was pleased she wasn't the only one upset about their interruption. "What do ya want Mystique?" Rogue demanded, her voice even more displeased that Rose's.

Mystique smirked, apparently not at all affected by the two younger women's reactions. "I simply wished to have a word with you."

Before Rogue could angrily retort, she felt Rose place a hand on her shoulder. "It's alright Rogue," she assured the girl. With a sigh, she added, "I need to head back to the store anyway."

"Can ya come back later?" Rogue asked.

With a grin, Rose said, "I'll be back after eight, at the latest. A little earlier if Wanda will agree to watch the store until closing." Looking at Mystique, Rose said, though with little cheer, "It was a pleasure to meet you."

With that, Rose vanished in a burst of flame.

Leaving Rogue and Mystique alone.

Walking into White Owl, Kurt didn't notice Wanda anywhere.

But then she walked through a curtain of bead, coming from what Kurt assumed was a back room. "Welcome to White….Owl," Wanda trailed off as she saw him standing in the store. "Kurt," she greeted, an awkwardness in her voice that Kurt had never heard before.

He smiled tentatively. "Hello Wanda."

The woman sighed as she made her way behind the counter, where she took a seat. "What do you want Kurt?" she sighed.

"I just wanted to talk," he told her. "I…I guess I wanted to know why?"

Wanda needed no interpretation of his question, as she he saw her eyes harden. "You know why Kurt," she hissed angrily. "You refused to even consider no longer going on missions with the X-Men. I stopped with the Brotherhood, hell, I'm no longer in the Brotherhood. I didn't think asking that is too much!"

"You know why I can't stop," Kurt argued back.

"No I don't," Wanda said angrily. "There are plenty of other X-Men, Xavier doesn't need you!"

"And what would you have me do?" Kurt asked angrily, his own temper, frayed already due to frustration over the last few weeks, flaring. "How can we ever have a world we can live peacefully amongst humans in, if we aren't willing to fight for it? I want that. I want a world where I can walk down the street without this damned thing," he held up his arm, showing his image inducer. "Where people don't run and hide because they think of me as a demon."

"And if your injured, or wore, killed because of it?!" Wanda shouted at him.

"Then at least I'll have died for something!" he shouted back at her.

Wanda snorted. "Yes, because that will be such a comfort to our daughter when I tell her!" Wanda shouted…only to stop, eyes wide, as she realized just what she had yelled.

Kurt, for his part, was stunned. As if a bucket of ice water was thrown on him, his temper cooled to be replaced with confusion. "D…daughter?" he asked, eyes wide. "What are you talking about?"

Before Wanda could answer, the beads to the back room moved, and Rose stepped into the store. "Wanda, I just wanted to let you know I'm back," she said, before noticing the male mutant. "Oh, hey Kurt," she said, awkwardly, looking between the two. "You...ah…You here to get more shampoo?" she asked, a little bit hopefully.

"No," he said, somewhat distractedly.

"Oh, well…I'll…I'll just…be back here if you guys need me," Rose said, before disappearing back behind the curtain, more than a little hastily.

"So what did ya want ta talk about?" Rogue asked, glaring at her foster mother.

Mystique grinned. "Well, I was going to ask what your relationship with Rose was…but I think I saw the answer to that one." Losing the grin, but still smiling slightly, she asked, "How was the food she brought you?"

"Delicious," Rose said, still glaring at her foster mother.

"Good," Mystique said. Turning away, she said, "I wish you and her luck Rogue, I really do," before walking away, leaving a confused and angry Rogue standing alone.

With a sigh, Rogue picked up the containers that had held her meal. As Rose had forgotten them, no doubt due to their interruption, Rouge decided she clean them out, so that Rose wouldn't have to worry about it when she returned them.

With a slight sigh and a smile at the reminder of what Rose had done for her, Rogue began the walk back up to the mansion. She may have been teasing Rose about the quality of the food, but in truth, it was some of the best catfish she could remember having.

And Rose had made it for her. To Rogue, that gesture was more romantic than any expensive dinner at a fancy restaurant.

Not that she had much experience with those. Though she was sure if Rose had her way that would be changing sometime in the near future.

There was an awkward silence for a few moments after Rose had disappeared to the back room.

Finally, Kurt prompted, a little hesitantly, "Wanda?"

With a sigh, Wanda admitted, "I'm pregnant Kurt." She looked away from him and wouldn't meet his eyes. "I found out just before I asked if you would quite the X-Men for me. When you said you wouldn't…I never want to tell our daughter that her daddy is seriously injured, or that her daddy won't be coming home. I also didn't want you to stay with me out of some sense of responsibility." She looked back at Kurt, "I wanted you to stay with me for me."

Kurt was stunned.

This was why Wanda left him? Because she was carrying his child?

And how could she think he'd stay with her for anything but her?

Kurt loved Wanda, it was how they'd apparently gotten into this situation in the first place. He wouldn't have slept with her if he didn't love her, he had more morals than that. Wanda was just who he needed, she didn't treat him any different because of his appearance. She laughed at his jokes. She made him feel like he could be a better man

And most importantly, he was totally, utterly, and completely in love with her. It was why he'd been depressed these last few weeks.

There was only one solution.

"Marry me?" he asked, hopefully, as he walked forward to hold her hand.

Wanda smiled sadly at him. "I knew you'd ask that," she said. "I would love nothing more than to marry Kurt," Kurt's heart filled with happiness, "but I can't."

The happiness faded as instantly as it appeared. "Why?" he asked.

With a sigh, the short haired woman explained, "Because you're not asking for yourself, or even for me, but out of responsibility." She reached up and gently caressed his cheek. "You're too noble for your own good."

"But I am asking for myself," Kurt assured Wanda. "I love you, and I want you as my wife."

"I wish, I truly wish, that I could believe that Kurt," Wanda said sadly. "I don't doubt you're love for me, and I never want you to doubt how much I love you. If you had asked me before I discovered I was pregnant, I would have said yes in a heartbeat."

Kurt smiled sadly, and picked both her hands up to place gentle kisses on both of them. "Then at least let me be your boyfriend again?"

"Of course," Wanda said happily.

It at that moment that Kurt decided that he would do everything he could to convince Wanda that he loved her, and wanted her as his wife for just that reason and not because she was carrying his child.

Though the idea of a daughter was a pleasant one.

"You said a daughter?" he asked.

Wanda nodded. "Rose confirmed it. She cast a spell on me to identify that I was pregnant, and provided the gender at my request."

"Rose knows?"

"So does Rogue," his girlfriend replied. Before Kurt had the chance to get angry at his sister, Wanda continued, "She told me that if I didn't tell you by the time I started to show, she would. Please, don't be angry at her."

"I'm not," Kurt assured her.

Though he already knew he needed to have a talk with at least his sister, probably Xavier and his mother as well.

Kurt's eyes widened.

"Kurt?" Wanda asked worriedly.

"I…I just realized…What am I going to tell my mother?" He gulped. "She's going to kill me."

Wanda snorted. With a slight smile, despite the nervousness in her voice, she said, "It's not you I'm worried about."

Rogue smiled as the flame appeared in her bedroom, disappearing to reveal Rose. She'd taken her gloves off in anticipation of the visit.

Rose raised an eyebrow. "I know I said I'd be here around eight, so what are we doing in your and Kitty's room?"

The southern girl smiled and walked over to Rose, wrapping her arms around the other girl's neck. "Kitty went with Jean an' Laura ta tha movies, they won't be back for ah while, so Ah, or rather we, have tha room ta ourselves."

Rose grinned and leaned down to kiss Rogue. "Good news all around then," she said, as she pulled back. "Kurt stopped in and talked to Wanda. They resolved their problems and he now knows about his kid." She moaned as Rogue began to kiss her neck. "What…what did your mother want?"

"To ask about my relationship with you," Rogue whispered into her ear.

Rogue then made a decision.

Pulling back from Rose, Rogue backed to her bed, pulling her shirts off as she went, leaving her topless.

She could hear the intake of air from Rose. And the look in Rose slitted eyes was intense as she looked at her. "Like what ya see?" Rogue asked, her voice slightly lower and more sensuous than usual, as she looked up at the witch through her eyelashes.

Rose slowly approached her, reaching out to caress her shoulders. "You're beautiful," she said, almost reverently. "Are you sure about this?" she asked, and Rogue could see the love, the conflict, and the hope in Rose's eyes.

"Yes," she said, without hesitating.

Rose slowly leaned in to kiss her, and Rogue felt the other woman's arms circle around her. As they kissed, Rogue's hand worked its way up to Rose chest, the grab either side of Rose's button up shirt, before ripping it apart, sending buttons flying.

The witch grinned against her lip, pulling back just long enough to say, "I liked that shirt."

"You can repair it," Rogue reminded her, as she shoved the shirt off of Rose shoulders.

Rose grinned, and finished removing the shirt, leaving her clad in only her bra, which she proceeded to remove, before Rogue could reinitiate their kiss, if barely.

The feel of Rose's breast against her own was intoxicating, and as Rose moved down leaving a trail of kisses along her neck and shoulder, Rogue thought she had to have died and gone to heaven. But that feeling was nothing compared to when she felt Rose pull her left nipple into her mouth. "Roooosse," Rogue moaned.

"Anna," Rose whispered.

Rogue felt her breath hitch and arousal flood her as Rose used her real name.

"More…Please," Rogue begged.

"You sure?"

"Yes…God yesss," Rogue hissed, as Rose stopped suckling her breast to come up and kiss her again.

Rose smiled against her and, at began to undo the button of Rogues pants. She'd just pulled the zipper down, agonizingly slow Rogue might add, when the door to the room burst open.

Both girls snapped their heads to the doorway, were a clearly startled Kathrine Pryde was looking at them both wide-eyed.

Rose and Rogue quickly scrambled to cover themselves, Rogue with the sheet, and Rose with a shirt, which she promptly dropped to grab another one when she realized she'd grabbed the green, slightly transparent shirt Rogue normally used.

"Kitty!" Rogue said shocked. "I thought you were going to the movies with Jean and Laura?"

Kitty blushed, and quickly looked away. "Uhh, well, Lance was at the theater with the Brotherhood. They weren't doing anything but…"

"I better go," Rose said.

Rogue turned to her girlfriend blushing brightly, but before she could say anything, Rose disappeared in flame, leaving the two roommates alone.

"I'm sorry," Kitty apologized. "I didn't mean too…well…like…interrupt you guys or anything."

Rogue sighed. "It's all right, you used tha door after all an' ah didn't lock it." She shook her head. "Ah'm taking a shower," Rogue said as she stood up, holding the sheet close to here. With a slight grin she added, "Though Ah'll need ah cold one since ya interrupted mah girlfriend and Ah."

The increased blush on Kitty's face was completely worth it. And who knew, maybe this would teach her to make sure doors were locked in the future.

Rogue certainly would.

Hope you enjoyed. Also, for those interested, I posted a new story in Please Adopt Me! It's an Evo crossover with Harry Potter that's Jean/FemHarry. And if you'd like to adopt it, Please do so, putting it up for adoption was a difficult choice for me, but I was having so much trouble with it, and I hope there's someone out there that can do the idea justice.
