Remembering Lisa

It was late, so Ianto was surprised to hear the crunch of leaves as someone approached where he stood. He preferred coming to the cemetery in the evening because there was usually no one else there and he could grieve in solitude. He knew that Lisa's casket was empty… her body was held in the Torchwood vaults, but a part of him needed a place to visit.

The footsteps slowed as the approached and stopped just behind where he stood. He didn't need to turn around to see who it was.

"Jack." He sighed.

Jack didn't say anything, but he stepped forward. He placed a simple bouquet of yellow flowers against the headstone. Then he stood next to Ianto.

"Why are you here?" the younger man asked still not looking at Jack.

There was silence for a moment, then Jack spoke. "I knew you'd be here."

"You followed me." Ianto growled.

Jack made as if to put a hand on the younger man's shoulder, then stopped and put his hand in his coat pocket instead. He took a deep breath and let it out slowly.

"You think I don't know what today is." It was said quietly and was more of a statement than a question.

"Why would you." Ianto's response was equally a statement.

"She was important to you." Jack paused. "So she's important to me. She should be remembered."
