Darkness and Silence
Rachel was at the hospital every day after the police brought Quinn in. Other glee members stopped by, but she was the only one allowed in the room with the blonde. It took two weeks for Quinn to start talking again.
"You stayed this whole time," she said.
Rachel's head snapped up from her homework. "Quinn?" she whispered.
"I…I need to call your nurse."
"She told me to when you started talking again."
"I don't want to talk to her just yet. You stayed this whole time," she repeated.
"Of course I did." There was a pause. Rachel moved to sit on the edge of Quinn's hospital bed. "How do you feel?"
"Less sore than yesterday. Did they arrest him?"
"He threw you out a window in front of six police officers. Yes, they arrested him."
Quinn snorted, then flinched. "What are all the other gleeks saying?" she asked.
"What do you mean?"
"Rachel, I'm hurt, not dying. Be honest with me."
"Most of them are wondering why you never told us."
"Others are less than sympathetic. Which I find disgusting. My dads filed for guardianship of you, and they've managed to keep everyone out."
Quinn was quiet for a few minutes. "Thank you," she said.
"You're my girlfriend, Quinn," Rachel said. "Even if it is a secret. You don't need to thank me for staying with you."
"Still…you saved me. And I'm grateful."
Rachel leaned down and kissed her.
"I thought I said to page me when she started talking again," a nurse said, quietly. She smiled as she rolled the food cart in. "Afternoon, Quinn. I thought you might like some lunch."
"Thank you," Quinn mumbled.
"I'll be back in to check on you in an hour."
"When can I go home?" Quinn asked.
Once the nurse leaves, Quinn looks at Rachel again. "So…less than sympathetic responses to me getting beaten half to death. I wonder who it could be?"
"It doesn't matter. Santana and I have threatened everyone within an inch of their lives about bothering you about this. Don't worry about it, Quinn. When they let you out of here tomorrow, you'll be surrounded by people who love you and want to help you get better."
"Don't leave me," Quinn said quietly.
