Sorting Hat for Next Generation. Meeting of Scorpius and Rose. I can't write songs, so I didn't show one. Sorry.

Rose Weasley glanced nervously at the Hat up front. It looked strangely… normal. That was her thoughts until it had sung a song to her and the rest of the Great Hall. It was weird… Thought most of the kids there. It just encouraged her that there was plenty of magic and enchantments around Hogwarts.

"Potter, Albus !"

The Sorting Hat stayed on his head for a moment… Thinking. Albus seemed to be thinking very hard, as his face was crunched in concentration.

"Yes, yes… I remember your Father and his Father before it… Such Brave men, heroes they are. Hmm… Sometimes Tradition is best, so lets put you in Gryffindor!" the Sorting Hat yelled. A wave of applause was met, and slight jeers from the Slytherin table.

A little while later, "Malfoy, Scorpius!" was called.

Almost spontaneously, with little hesitation, it was announced: "Slytherin!"

Rose was near the end, so she waited, over anxious. Several people had been named, A Longbottom, a Zabini, A Nott, and a Brown. Rose knew all of these names from the stories her father and mother had told her. And she would see her family's good friend, Neville Longbottom. Him and his wife, Luna, visited occasionally.

"Weasley, Rose!"

Rose gritted her teeth and walked up. The Sorting Hat was placed on her head, and she realized it was speaking to her in her mind.

"Yes, yes, lets see… Plenty of Talent, High Intelligence… Are you the daughter of Hermione Granger?"

Rose nodded weakly, so she wouldn't be noticed.

"Good good… I could put you in Ravenclaw, definitely not Hufflepuff… Maybe Gryffindor… But I think you'd do best in Slytherin."

Rose was so shocked by the idea she didn't say anything. When the Sorting Hat had no objections from her, it shouted out proudly, "Slytherin!"

Rose stumbled over to the Slytherin table, ignoring the stares from Albus. He had always thought she'd be a Ravenclaw, or a Gryffindor.

Scorpius greeted her "Hey. So you're a Weasley? I hear that's breaking tradition."

"Malfoy." Rose said simply, annoyed and confused.

"You're thinking of my prejudiced father, aren't you? But, nah, I don't think that way… Not really."

Rose looked at him, trying to tell if he was being truthful. As far as she could tell, he was. Maybe he could be a friend… Ron had only said not to get to 'too close' to him, hadn't he?

"Hey… I'm the first in my family to be a Slytherin. Can you explain that?" Rose asked, honestly curious.

"Nope. But I'm sure your family won't take it that bad. But they probably will." Scorpius grinned.

"Oh.. Shut up."

"Just, remember, me and you, we don't have to fit the Stereotypes! I'm a Slytherin, and I don't hate Muggleborns! You're… Well, a Weasley, and you're a Slytherin. I'm rather happy about that too." Scorpius told her.

Rose blushed, lightly. "You're rather happy about it? Why would that be?"

Scorpius realized that he had said that aloud, and looked away. "Never mind… But don't think just because I'm not prejudiced, doesn't mean I can't be a trickster, and a cunning snake." he said firmly.

"Oh, I think you're just an old softy."

"You've barely known me! Just… whatever." Scorpius mumbled, blushing.

Yay!
