Luke's POV

Chapter 2: The Adventure

I grab Grace's hand, pull her down onto my lap and kiss her. Slow at first, but then with more intensity until we're both out of breath gasping for air. I stare up at her, waiting for her to say something, anything.

"Why do you keep staring at me, Freak?" she asks.

"huh? Me? Oh, I wasn't staring..." I say, stuttering on every word.

"Uhh... yeah you were. God what is with you Girardi's today. Both of you have this distant look on your faces. Is this about the field trip? Did Rove say something to you about me?"

"No, no. He didn't say anything."

"Then what is it then?" Grace asks, getting impatient.

"I was just thinking about us."

"What about us?"

"Nothing... nothing. It was stupid, I shouldn't have brought it up." I say.

"yeah, but you did, so now you have to tell me, or I'm cutting our make out sessions to once a day for a week."

"Ok, fine. I was just thinking... about us... and..."

"And? And what, Geek? Spit it out!"

"I... I love you! Ok? Grace, I love you!"

"Well, that wasn't so hard, now was it Girardi?"

"No I guess not... But what about you? Do you feel the same way... or is it just me?" I say, scared that Grace wont love me back.

"I don't love anyone, Girardi. Let alone like anyone. But..." She says, and slowly pulls me to her until our lips meet, and I can feel her smiling under mine.

"Hey Grace." I say, the next morning while we wait in line to board the bus.

"Hey, Geek. Just so you know, you're sitting with me on the bus, that way I don't have to listen to your sister go on and on about her and Rove."

"Oh, ok. Cool." I say, and try to give her a quick kiss on the cheek.

"Hey, hey, to PDA until we get on the bus. That way we're all alone." She says, and I can feel my face getting red. Grace signals me to follow her onto the bus and into the last two seats in the back. She walks into the seats and waits for me to sit down. And to my surprise she sits down next to me and leans her head on my shoulder. As the bus starts to move, I slowly start to stroke her hair. She looks up at me, and I lean down to give her a kiss on her lips and she finally lets me. I smile at her and she snuggles in closer to me, and hold her tighter than ever, just so she knows that I'm not going anywhere.
