So, I didn't like the idea of someone being entirely evil, even voldemort, and I decided to write a one shot about what happened when Voldemort dies and he goes back to being Tom Riddle.

"Hey, Tom," A familiar voice off to Tom's right said and he blinked his eyes adjusting to the light.

He was in a white room that looked a lot like the great hall in Hogwarts. He no longer felt the all consuming evil that had turned him into Voldemort, but instead felt like he did before that. When he was just Tom Riddle.

His first instinct was to reach for his wand, but the voice which he recognized but couldn't quite place answered when he couldn't find it.

"You don't have your wand, and neither do I." He turned toward the voice and his question caught in his throat.

It was his best friend. Or the girl who had been his best friend until he became a… well… a total jackass. Charlene Greene or Charlie. She was wearing her Hogwarts uniform with the Ravenclaw tie, her brown hair loose, and her purple glasses. The first thing that popped out of his mouth was,

"You still wear geeky glasses." For some reason he wasn't surprised to hear his 15 year old voice, because you know, he was in his 15 year old body, and mind. Charlie's smirk widened at his words, and he smiled despite the strange situation.

"So, what exactly am I doing here and where is here?" He got up from the floor and sat next to her on the table. She sighed and thought before answering.

"Well first off, you're dead, secondly, this is…well I suppose you could call it heaven, and thirdly…actually, there is no thirdly." He smirked at her usually calm attitude before her words sunk in.

"I'm dead?" She nodded and he continued, "When did you die?" She gave him the look that she used to give him when she was telling him something she assumed to be obvious.

"You don't remember? When you started experimenting with the basilisk, you messed up. You sent it to look through the corridors to kill Filch's cat, but it killed me instead." She wouldn't meet his eye as she told him this and he fought to stay calm.

"I forgot. I remembered something had set me off on the dark path, I just sort of…forgot." He said as he remembered what it had been like. He had always blocked out memories of her death, and just focused on the fact that he now hated the world. And Filch's cat.

"It's fine, Tom." He was about to voice his doubts about that when she surprised him. She…hugged him.

"What happened after I died?"

It took a really long time, but eventually he finished telling her and looked at his hands waiting for her reaction. He expected her to be disgusted or terrified. He did not expect her to whap him on the back of the head.

"OW! What was that for?"

"For killing innocent people, doofus! Why did you do that?"

"I don't know, I just…after you died it made me remember my mother dying and I just… I went sort of…emo."

"You're a moron."

"I know."

"But you're dead, so I suppose you've learned your lesson and stuff."

"I know we were close friends and stuff but why did my death upset you so much?"

"Well, um I sorta, I'd rather not answer that."

"Oh for Merlin's sake, Tom!"

"You've fought people, killed people, and been a tyrant, and yet you're still a wimp."

"I am not a wimp!"

"Prove it! What were you- Mmmph!"

Tom cut her off by kissing her, and really she didn't mind.
