The weeks following Edward's birthday have been hectic to say the least. Both of us were busy with our work, and wedding plans.
We got my stuff moved in and put my house up for lease, but then took it off the market when Emmett decided that him and Rosalie would lease it from me, with the option to buy it. They were tired of apartment living and wanted something more permanent.
We finalized our plans for our honeymoon, we'd be spending two weeks in Hawaii. Neither one of us took much vacation time, so we had a lot stored up.
Alice was busy with making my wedding dress, I gave her specifics of how I wanted the dress to look and she promised she'd make it happen for me.
I could've went to the dress store to get the one I wanted, but Alice wanted to design it for me. So I conceded and I hope that I don't regret it.
It was mid July and I was working late on the end of summer parties at the casino when there was a knock at my door, usually Angela was there to let me know who was there.
"Come in," I said.
"I have a delivery for Ms. Swan," a quiet voice said as I stood up and went to the door.
I opened the door to see a huge bouquet of flowers.
"Bring them in and set them on the table," I said.
I had a sneaking suspicion of who was behind the flowers.
The man walked in and slowly lowered the flowers to the table, and Edward was behind the flowers.
"Hey love, I thought I'd surprise you. Do you like them?" he asked.
"Of course, they are beautiful. What's the occasion?" I asked with a smile as I leaned in and kissed his lips.
"None, just that I love you and I missed seeing you today."
I have the sweetest fiance' in the whole world.
"I love and missed you too. It's been a long week," I said as I wrapped my arms around his waist.
"It has been, but we managed."
"True, but your sister is a tyrant at times."
"What has she done now?" he asked with mock horror.
"She came to lunch with me today and she literally chastised me for eating a hamburger and fries for lunch."
"Because she said if I keep eating that junk before the wedding she'll have to alter the dress, and she doesn't want to do that."
"She's going too far with this stuff," he said with a sigh as he led me over to the couch and settled me in his lap. "You didn't let her get away with it, did you?"
"No, I had my hamburger and fries. I haven't gained any weight since you and I have met. It's not like I eat junk food all the time," I said as I leaned my head on his shoulder.
"I'm glad you still had what you wanted for lunch. Sorry she's so over the top."
"Don't worry about it, I can handle her," I said with a laugh.
"I have no doubts of that, baby."
I smiled up at him as his lips ran along my jaw, "Do you have to go back to work?"
"No, I took the rest of the afternoon off. Care to play hookie with me?"
"Mmm.. definitely. Do you want to hang out at the pier?" I asked.
"Sounds like a plan, baby. We can have dinner on the pier, enjoy the rides, etc."
I got up from his lap and went to my desk and closed out my files and then called Angela, letting her know that I was leaving for the day.
"All set," I said as I grabbed my purse and her messenger bag.
"Great, it'll be fun to play hookie with you."
He took my hand and walked out the door, to the elevator.
We waved to Angela as the door shut and he pulled me close to him.
"Are there really cameras in the elevator?" he asked as he kissed along my neck to my ear.
"Mmm... yeah," I breathed out as he gently sucked on my earlobe.
"Damn," he murmured as he held me close to him..
"Not your fault, love."
The doors opened and he lead me through the lobby out to his car, "We'll come back and get your car once we get done at the pier."
I nodded as he helped me into the car.
I love being in his car, he always checked to make sure that I buckled my seatbelt and he always shut the door for me.
I couldn't believe that we were getting married next month, everything was set for the wedding. The dress, the caterers and the cake were ready to go. We just had to wait for the date to arrive.
"A penny for your thoughts?" he asked as he drove out to the pier.
"Just thinking about our wedding, how everything is all set and we just have to wait for the date to come," I said with a smile.
"It needs to hurry up, I can't wait for you to be Mrs. Edward Cullen."
"Me too. That sounds amazing. Most women that get married now want to hyphenate their names, but.."
"If you wanted to keep your last name I'd be fine with Swan-Cullen," he interrupted.
"No, I want my last name to be Cullen. I don't like the hyphenated names," I said with a smile.
He nodded as he found a parking spot at the pier and got out to come and open my door for me.
"Thank you," I said as I took his hand and he helped me out of the car.
I was thankful that today I wore my flats and comfortable dress pants and a casual shirt.
"Ready?" he asked as I grabbed my purse from the seat.
"Yeah," I said as I took his hand.
We walked to the ticket booth and Edward purchased two wristbands for us.
I just looked at him and smiled.
"It's easier this way, then we don't have to worry about holding on to tickets," he said with a smile.
We walk along the familiar pier just taking in the sights and sounds and relishing the cool breeze blowing around us.
"I can't wait to get our pictures taken on that pier on our wedding day," I said softly looking out towards it.
"Me too, I'm sure you'll look so beautiful."
"I'm sure you'll look amazing too."
"Look its Madame Rita's, do you want to go in?"
"No, I don't think we need to. Unless you want to hear our future."
"Nope, our future is looking pretty good, Mrs. Cullen."
"That it is," I said as we passed her tent and walked down the boardwalk.
"Baby, do you want to get our picture sketched?" he asked.
"Sure, that sounds fun."
We sat down and the sketch artist positioned us the way he thought would be best and then he went to work on our picture.
It was cool to watch and every so often Edward would brush his fingers over my neck and I would try not to laugh.
It didn't take him long to finish the picture and he handed it to us and Edward paid him.
"Thank you, it's beautiful," I said looking down at the picture of us.
"Maybe we can get it framed while we are here," Edward said as he wrapped his arm around my waist.
"That would be awesome."
We walked along and looked at the various booths and ran our sketch back to the car so that we could go on a few rides before we got something to eat.
"Do you want to ride the ferris wheel?" he asked once he returned from the car.
"Sure," I said with smile.
We got in line and waited for our turn to get on, which wasn't long.
Edward helped me on and then he sat next to me and made sure that I was buckled in safely.
I smiled up at him as it started to move up.
I wasn't a great fan of the ferris wheel, but I knew how much Edward enjoyed it so I was willing to endure it for him.
It was a beautiful day and you could see clearly all around the shore.
"The view is quite beautiful," I said softly.
"It is," he murmured as he nuzzled my ear.
Somehow I don't think we were talking about the same thing.
"Edward, I was talking about the view of the shore," I said as I turned his face so that I could look him in the eye.
"I know," he said with sheepish grin. "I was talking about you."
"YeahI know," I said with a smirk as we were coming to a stop.
"I love you, Bella. More than I have ever loved anyone before," he said as he brushed his lips over mine as we waited to get off the ride.
"I love you too, Edward. So much more than I ever thought possible."
It was our turn to exit the ride and he took my hand and helped me stand up.
We walked down the stairs and he pulled me close to him.
He leaned in and covered my lips with his, kissing me ever so gently.
"Mmm... what was that for?" I asked as I leaned my head against his chest.
"Just because. Are you hungry?" he asked.
"Yes. Can we get corn dogs, french fries, a funnel cake and lemonade?"
"We can get whatever you like."
I loved seeing the smile on his face.
"Thanks, I'm sure Alice would be after you for allowing me to eat all of that," I said as I hugged him.
"Probably, but I would tell her to shove it. We are grown adults and if we want to eat junk food we can," he said adamantly.
I couldn't help but laugh.
"I'd love to see her face as you told her to shove it."
He smiled over at me and leaned down and kissed my forehead as we got in line at the snack station.
We waited patiently and then it was our turn to order.
"What can I get for you?" a young guy asked with a smile.
"I'd like two orders of corn dogs, one large order of fries, a small order of onion rings, two funnel cakes and two large lemonades," Edward told him.
I couldn't help but smile up at him as he paid for our meal.
We waited for our food and once we got it, he carried the tray over to one of the picnic tables, and we sat by the water.
"Wow, Alice would definitely have a cow over this," I said as I picked up a french fry.
"Yeah, she would but she'll never find out," he said as he bite into an onion ring.
"She's not worried over you not fitting in your suit, just me."
"You'll look beautiful no matter what, and Alice needs to lay off. You haven't gained an ounce of weight, even if you did I don't think it would make a difference in the dress."
"I'm glad you think so. I'm sure Alice will have me on a strict diet soon," I said as I bit into my corndog.
He laughed as we continued to eat.
My phone rang and I picked it up and groaned as I answered it.
"Hello Alice," I said with a sigh.
"Hi I stopped by your office and Angela said you were gone for the day," she said.
"Yes I am, your brother and I are playing hookie for the rest of the day."
"How irresponsible of you both," she chided.
"Hey everyone needs to do it sometimes, its good for the work ethic. Is there something you needed?" I asked as I ate one of Edward's onion rings as he smirked at me.
"Not really, I just wanted to make sure that you weren't upset with me about lunch. I just want to make sure your wedding will be perfect."
"I was upset, but I'm over it now. It will be perfect for us. Thank you for calling."
"No problem. Do you want to do lunch tomorrow? I promise not to be so ... um overbearing."
"I'll have to get back to you on that," I said. "I'm not sure of my schedule."
"Okay, will do. Talk to you tomorrow. Bye Bella."
I hung up the phone and looked over at him.
"You sent her a text didn't you?" I asked arching my eyebrow at him.
"I may have," he smirked.
"Thank you, it was nice of her to apologize. But I'm not sure if I can make it to lunch with her tomorrow. I may have some meetings scheduled."
"That's cool, just don't let her goad you into going to lunch with her. I don't want her stressing you out."
"I won't let her, besides I know a great stress reliever," I said as I slid my hand along his inner thigh.
He groaned as my fingers teased him slightly, before I pulled my hand away.
"No you're not," he said with a grin.
"You're right, I'm not."
We both laughed as we finished eating our dinner and then fed each other pieces of our funnel cakes.
He held out a piece of the cake to me and I closed my lips around it.
"Mmm... so good," I said softly as I felt the powdery sugar on my lips and he'd lean in and brush it off.
I loved the way his fingers felt against my lips as he brushed the powdered sugar from them.
He smiled over at me as he leaned in and kissed my lips gently.
I couldn't help but smile at him as we pulled away.
"Do you want to go ride the carousel?" I asked.
"Sure, anything you want," he said as he helped me up and we threw our stuff away and walked back towards the rides.
We got to the carousel and there was a small wait, Edward stood behind me wrapping his arms around my waist as he kissed the side of my neck.
"That tickles," I said softly.
"Yeah, do you like it?" he asked his voice barely above a whisper.
"Good," he said as we watched the other people waiting to get on the ride and the children running around.
"Do you ever think about children?" I asked softly.
"In the past not so much, but now I have. You?"
"Some, I think I'd like one," I said turning in his arms.
"Yeah, if you want one."
I was suddenly unsure where this conversation was going.
"I do, baby. I've been thinking about it a lot lately and I can't wait to see you pregnant with our child. But only if you want the same thing."
I nodded my head, I wanted this.
"Edward, I want that with you. I'll tell you the truth in the past I wasn't sure if I wanted children, but now I do. I want it all with you," I said with a smile.
"My mom will be thrilled, she's always been on us to give her grandbabies and so far none of us have."
"Well, I guess we have to work extra hard at it," I said as it was our turn to get on the ride.
He helped me onto a horse and then he got on the one next to me.
He took my hand as the ride started.
It was fun to do things like this with him, I'm sure it looked funny to other adults, but it was fun to be carefree with the one you love.
As the carousel went around I watched the pure joy radiate across his face, he looked as if he didn't have a care in the world and when the ride ended, he helped me down from the horse.
"Did you have fun, Edward?" I asked as he wrapped his arms around my waist as we walked from the ride.
"Yes, did you?"
"Yes, my favorite part aside from you holding my hand, was just watching the joy radiating from you. You looked so happy and carefree. I loved seeing it."
"That's how you make me feel, baby. So carefree and happy," he said as he pulled me closer to him and he leaned down and kissed me gently.
"I hope I always make you feel that way," I said when we pulled apart.
"You will, Bella. I'm sure we'll have our fair share of arguments, but we'll kiss and make up. I guarantee you this one thing," he said as we stopped walking and stood by the pier.
"What's that?" I asked looking up into his green eyes.
"We'll never go to bed angry. My parents always taught us never to go to bed angry."
"That's good. Remember our conversation before the carousel?"
"I'm scheduled for my birth control shot in a few days, how would you feel if I skipped it all together?" I asked biting my bottom lip.
"I think that would be awesome. I can't wait to make a baby with you and we have two long weeks to practice," he said with a smirk.
"It may not happen that quickly," I said.
"I know, but practice makes perfect, baby."
I couldn't help but laugh at his enthusiastic attitude.
We walked around for a bit longer and then we headed home, and spent the rest of the night enjoying each other before falling into a restful sleep.
