My original poem, written in 2012, is based on the TV series broadcast from 1966-1971, Dark Shadows (c) Dan Curtis Productions.

Dark Shadows. Just think of all of the foggy scenic nights, running outdoors rendezvous, hypnotic eyes at the mantel-and all of the Gothic romance. True Love. Barnabas Collins has long since departed to find Angelique.

Barnabas' Winter Lament for Josette

Walk in to the season.
The light is stick trees,
A small reaching veil,
A sleeping wind:

Cool,
Yellow,
Past gone.

Flicker
Season,
At the white pane,
Retracing
The metal gray
Stream wave.

Paper crafter,
Decorate
The window
With bright lights
And stars,

And a few warm days to keep
The snow for the winter,
Extended
Through early fall:
Last year's
Freeze
To floods.

Cool frost, paper window stars,
Wispy pale blue wind ready to snow.
