Disclaimer: I do not own any recognizable characters they belong to Suzanne Collins.

AN: For those that follow my works this is off of my usual Harry Potter but I have had this one shot in my head since I read Catching Fire. This is how I believed District Twelve's Reaping for the Quarter Quell should have gone. Oh yeah any flames that are said will get laughed at. Don't be a coward to sign in if you are going to flame. I would like to talk to you if you didn't get the point.

AN 2: I wrote this at midnight so forgive any spelling/grammer errors that weren't caught by spell check. Enjoy.

Third Person POV

It started out as any old reaping did except for the number of people up for the reaping. It was the 75th Hunger Games and the third Quarter Quell, meaning that a special reaping was to accure. This Quarter Quell had been declared the looking back Quell. All of the still alive victors from previous Games were thrown back into their worst nightmare. Each district would still offer up one man and one woman but they could be any age by now.

Katniss POV

The day of the reaping was among us and I knew that Peeta would try to volunteer for Haymitch; I just hope Haymitch can talk him out of it. Effie was just walking out of the Justice building when I got an unexpected chill up my spine.

"Happy Hunger Games," Effie began speaking into the microphone. "and may the odds be forever in your favor. Now I really should draw the names. As it is tradition but so few people to be picked from I am being allowed to do this my way. Katniss if you would join me please."

I knew I was going up there anyway there wasn't another female victor for District Twelve. I headed up to Effie without the march of Peacekeepers beside me since no one could volunteer for me.

"Now gentlemen which one of you is going to be a tribute yet again." I could tell Effie didn't like this Quarter Quell one bit. She didn't believe that victors should be used as tributes again that just went back on how the Capitol sought to be seen as forgiving. Before Haymitch could even say a word Peeta called out.

"I will be the male tribute, Effie." Of course I couldn't count on Haymitch.

Peeta POV

The day of the reaping was among us and Effie was just walking out of the Justice building when I got an unexpected chill up my spine.

"Happy Hunger Games," Effie began speaking into the microphone. "and may the odds be forever in your favor. Now I really should draw the names. As it is tradition but so few people to be picked from I am being allowed to do this my way. Katniss if you would join me please."

I knew that Katniss was going to be the female tribute, after all there was not another to take her place. I could see Effie's point; the other districts had several to chose from but ours was tiny. I briefly wondered what would have happened had a district not had either a male or female victor to offer up as tribute. I say briefly because I quickly turned to Haymitch while Katniss walked up to Effie. "I will offer myself as Tribute, Haymitch. So that I can protect her."

Haymitch looked at me before saying, "Fine, kid but I get to tell her when she bites my head off for not volunteering for you instead. She is very feisty and doesn't want you in the arena again." That was the girl I fell in love with feisty with a touch of stubborn.

"Now gentlemen which one of you is going to be a tribute yet again." I could tell Effie didn't like this Quarter Quell one bit. She didn't believe that victors should be used as tributes again that just went back on how the Capitol sought to be seen as forgiving. Before Haymitch could even say a word I called out. "I will be the male tribute, Effie." I had to call out before him, I didn't believe I could count on Haymitch.
