Ahiru sat on a bench out in the large courtyard. She was very happy that she was able to dance more and was even able to go on point. However she could not get Jake out of her mind. He wanted this evil book. What was he going to do with it? Was he going to hurt people? She bit her lip as she thought about it.

She was so lost in her world of worry, she didn't see Fakir come up behind her.

"Hey." He said and watched her jump. He chuckled. "You have really got to start paying attention to what is around you." He said. Ahiru crossed her arms.

"If you would stop sneaking around i wouldn't have to worry about it now would i?" Fakir raised an eyebrow

"Sneaking you say? Well if walking across open ground and standing behind you for a whole minute is sneaking sure. I will try to stop sneaking." He said smirking making Ahiru grumble.

"Maybe i just really want to not be scared." Fakir sighed and sat down next to her.

"So you have no idea how you got to be human?" He asked. Ahiru looked at him.

"Fakir I already told you that I don't know how I did it." Fakir glanced at her.

"You have your pendant." He said. Ahiru looked down.

"Yeah... I do." She knew this wasn't working very well and that Fakir was going to get suspicious. "Look... While I was a duck... My memory is a little fuzzy." She lied. She didn't know why she couldn't just tell him. But now that she was starting she couldn't stop. "So if I found something I don't really remember how i just remember that i had it. It's the same way with the pendant you see." she said looking at him. Fakir nodded.

"I see. That would make sense." He said looking at the fountain in the midst of the square. Ahiru looked down at her lap. She shouldn't have lied. She should tell him the truth. Yeah he might be mad but he would understand. She was scared and didn't want anything bad to happen to people. She looked at him and he looked at her. He gave her a gentle smile. Ahiru blushed and looked down again. No. If she told him... He may never smile at her again. She couldn't loose that. She wouldn't loose that.

Jake smiled as he watched the gear. Dosselmeyer frowned as he looked at the gear.

"So she lied. Every human lies." Jake chuckled.

"Yes every normal human. But need I remind you that Ahiru is no normal human. Lying is not in her nature. She is a pure and beautiful creature. And she already has a spot on her. She's begun her downward spiral. Right to where i want her to be. And this is only the beginning."
