Disclaimer: I don't own Monk
Adrian Monk smiled when he heard that familiar voice. He hadn't seen Trudy in 3 months; since she died but she was always there with him.
"I miss you so much," he told her, "I never got the chance to tell you one last time that I love you."
"Adrian every day you told me you loved me. I don't only mean in words though you've said it too but you let me know in so many way. Every time you were there for me when I was going through a tough time you told me you loved me."
"It was nothing," he said shrugging it off.
"Adrian that was not nothing," she told him sternly, "That was incredible. Most people would not have been as supportive as you were. Maybe the first time they would but after the first time anyone would have gotten impatient."
"Well they're morons," he said, "But Trudy there were times where I was faulty."
"That just means you're human Adrian. But you're beyond that.
"You," she continued, "have compassion. You genuinely understand people even though you pretend not to."
"It's not that I don't understand," he said, "I get so nervous sometimes. I remember one time for instance I was talking to you and instead of saying you I actually said I"
Trudy laughed. That was one of her favorite stories of all times.
"Yes and then you asked yourself if you understood what I said even though Ihadn't said anything."
He laughed remembering that.
"You always believed in me too," she added, "No matter how many times I acted stupid you never stopped believing in me."
"You never acted stupid," he told her, "You're perfect."
"I'm not perfect," she said, "Perfection is a flaw."
"That's one flaw I would love to have," Adrian said
"Do you remember the protest that I took part in? As soon as you saw me you joined the protest too," she laughed.
"Of course I remember," he said, "I was sent to break the protest up but seeing you there made me realize that it was obviously an important event. Whenever you were I knew there was a good reason for it so I chose to participate in the protest instead of breaking it up."
"That told me you love me," she said, "It told me what was important to me was important to you as well."
"Trudy anything that was important to you was important to me," he said.
"Adrian" she took his hand, "I need you to do me a favor. I need you to let yourself be happy again. I'm gone now but I can't get to heaven until I know that you're going to be okay."
"I shouldn't have to be here without you. I can't be okay without you," he said, "You're my everything"
"Adrian please," she begged, "This is important to me. I need you to be okay. I can't be alright until I know that you are."
"I'll try," he said, "But that's all I can promise right now. I want to be alright again but I don't know how to."
"It's only been three months," he said, "I can't start dating again."
"No but you can start living again. You haven't gotten out of bed in 3 weeks Adrian. I'm always going to be with you. When the time is right you will be with me again. But right now you need to LIVE for my sake."
"Okay," he said, "But only for you."
