Epic Prom After
AN: I had a quick idea for a one shot after watching the latest Bucket & Skinner. It may have turned out to be the last episode they would shoot which would make it the finale. So I got an idea for a short one shot of a conversation Bucket and Kelly may have on the way home.
Bucket is driving Kelly home on his scooter and they arrive at Kelly's, Bucket helps Kelly off and they pick back up there conversation as Bucket walks Kelly to her door.
Kelly laughs and says "Ok, ok. So let me get this straight. Got on the wrong bus, stumbled into a secret military base, Skinner disturbed an android, busted a guy for attempted treason, had a hot air balloon ride that didn't go as planned, made a deal with a couple kids for a scooter while wearing a plant and then made it back here in time to make this a great prom? Yeah, sounds about right"
Bucket responds with a chuckle and says "Yeah, that's what you would call a typical Saturday, I guess, for Skinner and I."
"It meant a lot, Bucket," Kelly says with a smile. "And thank you," Kelly adds while giving Bucket a nice long hug.
"Look, Kelly, this is probably a mistake but I have to tell you." Bucket says sounding frightened.
"You can tell me anything, Bucket, what's up?" Kelly asks.
"I'm just going to spit it out. I Love You, Kelly Peckinpaugh, I have since I first met you," Bucket says and then quickly covers his mouth.
Kelly stands there in stunned silence for a number of seconds
"Guess I better be going, huh? Stupid Bucket. Argh." Bucket says, but as he is about to head off, Kelly interjects.
"Wait, Bucket. You know, I have suspected that for quite some time. It's just I sort of tried to be in denial about it. I mean you are one of my best friends and I love what we have. Today has just been a whirlwind of emotions for me," Kelly explains to Bucket.
"I know, that's why it was unfair of me to drop this on you tonight, Kelly. It's just tonight has been the best night of my life and I guess I was caught up in the moment. Maybe knowing it was coming to an end made me spill. I don't know." Bucket sits on Kelly's steps and puts his face in hands.
Kelly smiles to herself and sits down beside Bucket. "Look, it wasn't unfair. Devon helped me realize tonight that the type of guy I need is someone I can be wild and crazy with. Maybe subconsciously that's what made me think of you first after Blake and I broke up, that you are that guy, a guy I can be myself around and not worry about how I'm acting. It's just, I don't know if I can just jump back into a relationship right now." Kelly tells Bucket sincerely.
Bucket responds to Kelly "Really? I mean, all I know is, I Love You. I don't want our relationship to be strained cause of this admission. Regardless of what happens, I will always want you in my life, so whatever you decide, I will be cool with. It may hurt for a while but it will be ok." Bucket smiles at Kelly
"We have been taught all our lives how people grow and evolve. It can be a scary and unpredictable thing. While we love what we have, who knows that we couldn't grow and love what we become more? So how about this?" Kelly says to Bucket
Kelly leans in and gives Bucket a sensuous kiss on the lips.
"I like that," Bucket says to Kelly with a smile on his face.
"So, that means we are together?" Bucket asks Kelly.
"Of course, it means I want us to take the next step and evolve," Kelly says with a smile.
"Sweet," Bucket says.
Right as Bucket is giving Kelly a final kiss goodnight a huge bowl of cherry Kool-Aid is dumped on top of them by Piper from her room above and she screams out.
"You two are making me sick, I'm trying to sleep here."
And with the happenings of the evening, even with them drenched in Kool-Aid, nothing would put a dampening on this evening the blossoming love birds shared.
