Understanding.

"Elphaba, you've been so strong through all of this, aren't you tired of being the strong one? Wouldn't you like someone to take care of you?"

Even as Elphaba flew to her sister's side, her stomach churned, full of so many emotions.

Did that really just happen? Had she actually understood?

Only hours ago, she had been completely alone, her only mission to fight the Wizard until the day she died. Elphaba didn't need anyone! She was the Wicked Witch of the West for crying out loud.

And then he showed up.

Fiyero Tiggular, the first person to show her love and compassion like no one ever had or could before. Not even Nessa or Glinda had brought her such joy. Never had she felt so alive, so wicked. For the first time, she felt like a woman.

No matter how many times she cleared her head, Fiyero was always in the back of her mind, his kind eyes giving her a loving glance. He was her weakness.

Even Nessa's death only made Elphaba stronger, more desperate to find an answer, but in the end, she was tired of being the strong one.

For the first time, she needed someone to take care of her. She needed Fiyero. Being dependant was something Elphaba didn't know well. She was independent. She came to the realization that needing or wanting someone wasn't necessarily a bad thing.

In fact, it was wonderful.
