Hi Oncers! Snow here, I'm back;) Sorry about the late update, I've just been having a harder time with this chapter because I wanted it to be perfect ya know? Anyways I am back and am CRAZY excited about this chap:D So this chapter is going to be filling the gaps between chapter 3 and 4, so the aftermath of our lovely Emma/August kiss, some more bromance with the four princes, and some Charming family bonding! Enjoy it guys!
Oh yeah inspiration for this chapter was through some of the new spoiler pics of Josh Dallas and Jared Gilmore:) Okay now read!
PREVIOUSLY IN CHAPTER 3:
Emma had a thousand thoughts running through her head at that moment. She was mad at him for leaving her. She was mad at his father for lying to Snow and James. But there was a feeling and thought that overpowered the anger. She grabbed August's wrist and turned him around, looking deep into his blue eyes. "That's the problem," she began softly. "I don't not want to see your face again."
"Then what do you want?" he asked confused.
"I don't know…" she whispered.
August lifted his hand to her face, caressing her cheek. "Here's what I know Emma."
"What?" she asked softly, his touch making her shiver.
"I won't give up on us…" August said softly. "Ever."
Us. Emma liked the sound of that. Us. Me and August. August and I. Us. She smiled, realizing she had an answer to his question. She wanted to be with him. "And neither will I," Emma told him. She stepped closer to him and ever-so-slowly, their lips touched.
Emma melted at his touch. She felt as if she was falling and the only thing keeping her grounded was August. He was her rock. Her constant. Emma could always count on him. She wrapped her arms around his neck and tangled her fingers in his dark brown hair. His hands automatically went to her waist, pulling her closer to him. He pushed her against the wishing well and deepened the kiss. Emma couldn't get enough of him. She just kept kissing him.
Finally, August pulled away and pressed his forehead to hers, breathing heavily. "Emma, you have no idea how long I've wanted to do that," he told her, twirling a loose strand of her hair.
Emma blushed crimson red. "And how long has that been Mr. Booth?"
"Since the moment I laid eyes on you in Storybrooke," he breathed. "And here's the thing, I'm never going to let anyone else kiss you. Ever."
Emma's face continued to get redder. "Well then Mr. Booth, we'll have to make sure things stay that way won't we?" she teased.
"And how ever would we accomplish that Miss Swan?"
"Like this," Emma replied before kissing him again. This time much softer but still filled with the same passion.
They kissed long and soft and finally came up for breath. "So," Emma began, taking his hand in hers. "What would you prefer I call you? August or Pinocchio?"
August laughed and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. "How about we stick with August, I've gone by that longer than Pinocchio."
Emma smiled. "As long as you don't treat me like Princess Emma, I will call you August. Deal?"
"Deal. Now c'mon, I'm pretty sure you're parents are looking for you."
Emma sighed. "I'd prefer not to face them right now," she admitted sheepishly. "I know they just want to get to know me as my parents and everything but I just can't handle the fact that I am the freaking daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming…"
Emma held up her hands. "Don't please don't chastise me August. I know they're my parents. And I know I'm their daughter but I just can't face them right now."
August placed a gentle kiss on her forehead and intertwined their fingers. "Emma Swan, you never cease to amaze me."
She shrugged. "I try. Anyways since I'm not really in the mood to go home just yet, do you wanna go somewhere?"
"We already are somewhere," he joked.
"I'm serious August. Let's get out of Storybrooke, just for a few hours. Please?" Emma begged.
August rolled his eyes and bowed. "Your wish is my command Princesss."
"Hey! No royalty references!" she snapped.
"Oh sorry," he replied sarcastically. He dragged away from the well. "Where do you want to go?"
"Anywhere but here," Emma told him smiling. "Let's just get away from it all alright?"
August kissed her sweetly. "Deal. First we need to go get my bike from the B and B."
"Okay let's go!" Emma said and placed a quick peck on his cheek.
"So James," Eric began as the four princes walked back to Granny's diner. "What were you stuck doing these past twenty-eight miserable years?"
"I got the wonderful joy of being stuck in a coma," James replied sarcastically, laughing. "But let's not talk about the past; we need to discuss what we plan to do about getting back to our world."
Thomas sighed. "James, why can't we just have one day, one day, where we just forget about Regina, Rumplestiltskin, war councils, just a single day to ourselves with our wives and families?"
"Yeah James, you need to lighten up!" Philip joked.
Thomas put a hand on James' arm. "No brother, you are not. So make me a promise. That you will take today off so to speak. Go. Spend time with Snow. Get to know your daughter and grandson. Don't worry about Regina or Rumplestiltskin or how the war council went. Just be with your family. We can worry about the rest of it tomorrow. Please?" he asked.
Eric and Philip nodded in agreement. "I'm with Thomas, James. I plan on spending the rest of my day with Ariel and Melody," Eric said.
"And I with Aurora," Philip added.
"See what I mean brother?" Thomas asked.
"Yes, I guess you are right. I need to spend the day with my family. And that is exactly what I am going to do," James said. By now they foursome had arrived at Granny's where on the front steps sat Snow, Henry, Ariel, her daughter, Melody, Aurora, and Ella who was holding Alexandra. His face broke into a smile as Snow stood and ran to him wrapping her arms around his neck and placing a loving kiss on his lips.
"Are you alright?" Snow whispered.
James' grin widened. "Never better." He set Snow down and held his arms out to Henry, who ran right into them, hugging his grandfather tightly. "Hey Henry, what d'you say we head home and then I teach you how to sword fight?"
Henry eyes widened. "Really?!" he asked.
James nodded. "Really. Let me say goodbye to the boys first."
Henry grinned. "Kay!" He ran over to Snow and stood next to her as James stood to thank his friends.
"Thomas, Eric, Philip. Thank you again. I'll see you all tomorrow?"
The men nodded. James then addressed their wives. "Ariel, Ella, Aurora. You three are very, very lucky to have these men in your lives."
They smiled. "We know, James," Ella replied laughing. "Now go home with you family."
James nodded. "I plan to." He turned and walked back to Snow and Henry. Taking Snow's hand in his left and Henry's in his right he said to them: "Let's go home."
"Grandpa, Grandpa!" Henry called breathlessly as he ran up to James with two wooden sticks.
"Whoa slow down there bud," James said laughing as Henry crashed into him. "Don't hurt yourself. Let me see if Snow needs any more help with dinner before we go practice alright?"
Henry nodded eagerly. "Okay!" He ran out to the living room and sat on the couch.
Snow chuckled as she walked over to James and threw the dish towel on the counter. She put her arms around his neck. "Hi," James said grinning.
"Hey Charming," Snow said before placing a sweet kiss on his lips.
James placed his hands on his wife's hips and just gazed into her deep green eyes loving. "I love you so much."
"I love you too Charming." She patted his chest and stepped away. "Now, how about you and Henry go outside and you teach him some moves. I'll come watch."
James grinned. "Thanks dear."
Snow laughed and shoved him towards Henry in the living room. "Henry! Charming's ready to take you out to practice now!" she called.
"Awesome!" Henry said excitedly, jumping up from the couch. He ran over and pulled James' arm. "Let's go Grandpa James!"
"I'm coming, I'm coming," James said and followed Henry out the door.
Snow smiled to herself. Alone at last, she thought. Opening the freezer, she grabbed a carton of ice cream, grabbed a spoon, and plopped onto the couch in the living room to enjoy her free time.
"Okay Henry," James began as Henry handed him his "sword". "The first thing you should remember when sword-fighting is to never let your opponent have the upper hand. Always think ahead and don't turn your back to them. Got it?"
Henry nodded. "Yep! I'm ready!" He lunged towards James chest and James jumped back laughing.
"Whoa there kiddo! You're a fast learner."
Henry shrugged. "I'm not too bad," he replied grinning before lunging at James again.
James jumped up onto the bench that was behind him. "Guess you've got your grandmother's skills when it comes to a sword-play." He blocked Henry's next lunge and then lunged himself.
Henry crouched as James' "sword" swung above his head. He rolled under the bench and came up behind James and pretended to stab him. "Got you."
James sat down on the bench and laughed. "You win Henry. You're way better than I thought."
Henry sat down next to him. "Hey Grandpa?"
James put his arm around Henry's shoulder. "Yeah buddy?"
"Can I ask you something?" he asked softly, looking at the ground.
James smiled. "You can ask me anything Henry. Anytime, anywhere."
"Okay thanks. I just wanted to talk about the Evil Queen. Do you think she's gonna try and take me back?" Henry asked, looking up at his grandfather.
James took a deep breath and gave Henry's shoulder a reassuring squeeze. "I don't know Henry. But if she does, I promise you that she won't succeed. Emma, Snow, and I will do everything to protect you. Do not ever doubt that Henry."
Henry slowly laid his head on James' shoulder causing James to grin even wider. "I won't. Thank you Grandpa."
James leaned his head against Henry's. "You're welcome buddy."
They sat in silence for awhile. Just enjoying each other's company. "Boys, time for dinner!" Snow shouted from the apartment entrance.
Henry and James stood. "Race you!" Henry shouted, running towards the apartment building.
James laughed loudly and sprinted after him. Thomas is right, he thought, family is the most important thing right now.
