A/N: So this is basically a missing scene. I'm posting it on but since you guys seem to like my oneshots I decided to post it here as well. It takes place in 9x12 Housekeeping, probably during the time that Cole is being interrogated.

"You know, EJ said something that really bugged me before," Tony said, and McGee looked up from his paperwork tiredly, but expectantly. "She kept saying how Ziva...cares about me."

"Of course she cares about you, Tony," McGee replied, his chin resting on his hand. Tony stood up and leaned against his filing cabinet, a finger hooked at his lips in deep thought.

"Nah, it was definitely more than just that. I know Ziva cares about me. I care about her, too. It was more like ' she cares'. Like that alone was supposed to mean something. Something else."

"Well, it is you and Ziva," Tim said.

"Tony turned his head in the younger man's direction. "What do you mean 'me and Ziva', Probie?"

"You guys have always been something else," McGee said, regretting it before the words even left his mouth.

"We're just partners!"

"Sure," Tony answered, his eyes still wide.

"Ever get mistaken for a couple?"

Tony paused and frowned. "All the time, actually."

"See what?"

Tim's brows were raised. "Wow. You really don't see it, do you?"

"McGee, Ziva and I are partners. Friends. That's it!" Tony defended, throwing his arms in the air in frustration.

"You know that, Tony, and Ziva knows that, but you're probably the only ones," a distinctly female voice interjected. Both men looked up and saw Abby, hands on hips, standing before them.

"It's a freakin' conspiracy theory," Tony murmured angrily.

"I hate to say it, but EJ's right, Tony. Ziva does care about you, she just sucks at showing it, you know? Maybe EJ's trying to make it up to you for disappearing on you like that. She feels bad so she's trying to make you happy."

"Let me get this straight..." Tony said, rubbing his temples. This conversation was going a million miles an hour. "EJ...thinks that I'll be happier if Ziva and I...get involved?"

"It makes sense," Abby said, too casually.

"You think there aren't serious complications to something like that? Serious complications. She's in a relationship for one!"

"It doesn't have to be complicated, Tony," Abby said, and with that, scurried back to her lab. Tony looked to Tim for elaboration but he just resumed typing.

A/N: My shippy heart believes there was more than 'she cares' behind the motivation towards Ziva that Tony obviously displayed at the end of Housekeeping. I don't, however, know where she was in this scene, which is weird, because it's been a while since I wrote a fic without her in it.
