"Somewhere Out There"

Out in the coldest regions of space lay an asteroid called Asteroid M. Only one of its two occupants was awake. A little boy around seven-years-old sat on his bed, his short white hair giving him an air of mystery which only contrasted the look of sadness that was on his face. His crystal blue eyes were fixed on a picture frame which stood on his nightstand. The photograph was a recent one. It was of him and a dark hair girl who had the same crystal blue eyes that he had...Wanda, his twin sister.

Their father had her locked away in an institute of some sorts; locked away from others..locked away from him. Without looking away from the photo, Pietro started to sing an old lullaby that their mother used to sing to them.

Somewhere out there

Beneath the pale moon light

Someone's thinking of me

And loving me tonight

In an active part of a little town called Bayville, a dark haired girl looked out the little window she had. Her crystal blue eyes had tears in them as she gazed at the stars, knowing her twin brother, Pietro, was out among them. She could almost hear him singing their mother's lullaby. She half-smiled as she sang.

Somewhere out there

Someone's singing a prayer

That we'll find one another

In that big somewhere out there

She breathed, difficult as it was. Determined not to start crying, she continued singing.

And even though I know

How very far apart we are

It helps to think we might

Be wishing on the same bright star.

Pietro smiled sadly. He was almost able to hear Wanda. He knew she was singing. He continued the song.

And when the night wind

Starts to sing a lonesome lullaby

It helps to think we're sleeping

Underneath the same big sky.

Both twins, able to hear each other as they sang, were determined to finish singing the lullaby.

Somewhere out there

If love can see us through

Then we'll be together

Somewhere out there

Out where dreams come true

Wanda broke down. Tears streaming down her face, sobs racked the little girl's body. The entire institute rang with the heart-broken sobs of a seven-year-old girl who had been ripped away from her father and twin brother.

Pietro sniffed, trying desperately to keep the tears at bay. He ultimately failed, breaking into hear-broken sobs much like his sister did.

From the other side of Pietro's door, Pietro's father stood, listening to the sobs of his seven-year-old boy. He knew who the tears were for...Wanda. He knew deep in his soul that it was wrong to split the twins up like this, but, overall, it was for the best.
