Revenge in the Form of Grandma

Stephanie's POV

"Carlos, my back is killing me," I whined. I wasn't even five months pregnant, but with triplets, everything was three times as big as it normally would be. "I have a lot of errands to run today, and I don't feel like doing any of them."

"What do you need done, Babe?"

His voice was the same soft tone he'd been using for the last four months, ever since we found out that after two years of marriage, all our practice in bed had paid off.

"There's the dry cleaning, first of all. I know you said Ella could handle it, but dam—I mean, darn it, we don't live at RangeMan anymore, so she shouldn't have to do those little things for us. You know the guys are a hard enough job for her already." I was really in a whining mood today, and apparently nothing, not even his soft-toned voice, was going to snap me out of it.

"Okay, that's easy. I can do that. What else, Steph?"

"Someone has to takeGrandmatoaviewing this afternoon," I mumbled.

"Babe. Slow down. Something about Grandma," he quietly repeated.

I sighed. "Yes. Someone has to take Grandma to a viewing this afternoon at Stiva's. It starts at three o'clock. I can't do it, and I'm not looking forward to calling my mom to tell her that she'll have to."

"I have the perfect person for the job, Babe, don't worry." He got up, grabbed the phone from the desk, and came back to the couch beside me.

Hitting a button, he was quiet for a few seconds before he said, "Santos, my house, respectable dress." He rattled off the time in the military way that I still didn't translate quickly in my head before hanging up the phone.

Looking over at my quizzical expression, he said, "He owes me one."

I smirked as Ranger chuckled to himself.

We spent the time waiting for Les to show up on the couch watching movies together. At two o'clock on the dot, he knocked and Ranger buzzed him in.

"What's up, Boss? Beautiful," he said, coming over to give me a kiss on the cheek.

"Remember the lies I had to tell to cover you with all three of your latest girls last week? Wasn't it telling Cynthia and Tanya that you needed to work an extra shift that night and Alicia that you needed to babysit Steph while I was working? All so you could try to go pick up a fourth?"

Les swallowed and nodded, looking nervous. "What do you need, Ranger?"

"Stephanie's grandmother needs to go to a viewing at Stiva's at three and Steph isn't feeling well enough. You're now on Grandma duty," Ranger said, struggling not to laugh.

Lester sighed loudly and rolled his eyes. "Fine," he whined. "If that's what you want."

Ranger didn't answer him. He just picked up the phone and handed it to me, saying, "Call your grandma and tell her Lester will be by in a few minutes to pick her up."

I grinned at Les. "Thanks, Les. Means a lot."

I winked at him, and he simply glared at Ranger to let him know this wasn't over as I laughed and dialed the phone.
