Disclaimer: I don't own the X-men and the song 'Weathered'

Authors note: This fic is based on the song Weathered by Creed (Isn't that ironic?)  ;-) When I heard the song for the first time I immediately thought of Wolverine, so here it is…

Review: Please, tell me what you think about and maybe you can give me some advise for my grammar. I would appreciate it!

By the way: My grammar is HORRIBLE but I'm only Dutch so I can't help it….

And I a made a wonderful lay-out but when I uploaded it, it was gone…Any idea how this could happen and/or advice to prevent it is very welcome!

Logan stared out the window, the rain was pouring down in the large garden of the Xavier mansion. The weather matched his mood, he felt like crying. His life was one big mess; he had lost his loves, his memories and almost his sanity. He was nothing more than an animal barely concealed by a thin layer of pride and willpower. He just wanted to get lost in it, free the beast, have peace.

I lie awake on a long, dark night
I can't seem to tame my mind
Slings and arrows are killing me inside
Maybe I can't accept the life that's mine
No I can't accept the life that's mine

Simple living is my desperate cry
Been trading love with indifference
yeah it suits me just fine
I try to hold on but I'm calloused to the bone
Maybe that's why I feel alone
Maybe that's why I feel so alone

But on the other hand…what about his friends, his family…Jubilee…Jean…and all the others? He can't just leave them alone they need him. Do they?

Jubilee grew up fast. She's almost a woman now. As for the others, he taught them everything about fighting, foreign cultures…life. He's no longer needed here.

Me…I'm rusted and weathered
Barely holding together
I'm covered with skin that peels and
it just won't heal

Maybe he should leave. He's nothing more than a burden to them, with all his hate, his anti-social behavior and berserk rages. Without him the X-men would have been a perfect team, that was sure. Everybody would listen to Cyclops and obey his orders, instead of threatening him and walk away every time it became difficult.

Ha, it was a miracle they hadn't kicked him out already! He just should leave…

Me…I'm rusted and weathered
Barely holding together
I'm covered with skin that peels and
it just won't heal

The rain stopped and a small ray of sunlight peaked through the dark clouds. The sky lightened a bit. Droplets fell from the leaves of the big oak, shining like little diamonds in the sun.

The sun shines and I can't avoid the light
I think I'm holding on to life too tight
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust
Sometimes I feel like giving up

Sometimes I feel like giving up

Suddenly Logan heard the familiar sound of roller-skates on asphalt. He looked up and saw Jubilee skating on the path at the other end of the garden. He couldn't leave her alone. He just couldn't! She looks so vulnerable, skating and popping bubble gum… he will protect her, even if she don't need it anymore!

The day reminds me of you
The night hides your truth
The earth is a voice
Speaking to you
Take all this pride
And leave it behind

He will ask Chuck to help him again with his rages, he will mediate, and hell maybe he'll even be nice to Cyke. Just anything to make life worth to live, to be useful to his friends. One day he'll change in a mindless animal. But before that day he'll fight for his worth…

Because one day it ends
One day we die
Believe what you will
That is your right
But I choose to win
So I choose to fight
To fight!
