Notes: This is from Toki's prompt: "parfait".
Yuuta remembers how disastrous their last date ended, with their orders soiling their clothes when the waitress tripped over some careless high school kid's misplaced backpack. Shun had tried to hide his disappointment, but they have been friends for long enough for him to catch that crestfallen face for a moment.
With the recipe in front of him, Yuuta is determined to make it up to Shun.
"You look like you're having a really difficult time."
He glares at his younger twin, who's reading the newest issue of one of the many magazines he follows. Yuuki has always been better in the cooking department, but that's not to say he's horrible at it. Trust his brother to start gloating once he has the upper hand in this area of expertise.
"I'm not helping you eat all these failures."
Yuuta keeps his expression neutral, but inside he's wailing in dismay. Four blends later, and he still hasn't perfected it to cater to Shun's taste; they're either not sweet enough or the texture is too watery. He hasn't quite figured out which part he keeps messing up on.
"I know." Neither have them have a sweet tooth, but simply throwing them out to the garbage seems like such a waste.
"I'm sure they'll be appreciated though."
"..." Yuuta says nothing and starts measuring out the sugar and cream again, the intensity of his focus unseen before.
"Are you sure you don't want a tip or two?"
"Yes, I'm sure," Yuuta reaffirms, wanting to do this on his own, because it's much more satisfactory to him once he gives it to Shun.
"It's a good thing Shun loves you," he comments offhandedly without bothering to look up, flipping to the next page of his magazine. There's a loud clang as the mixing bowls hit against each other, and Yuuki snickers; watching Yuuta struggle with something (for once) is way too entertaining to leave alone.
