"I think I know what's wrong with me."
"I think I'm afraid…"
"Afraid of what?"
"Losing him. He could leave me just as easily as Blaine did and… and I don't want to get attached."
"Ben won't leave you."
"He could, though… and it terrifies me."
Kurt falls back on the couch, dropping his things to the floor as he does. His therapy appointment went well today, he talked about a lot of things and he's, surprisingly, starting to feel a little better. Blaine left a note saying he, Moose, and Ben went out for a little while, so Kurt has the place to himself. He looks around the empty condo and sighs, shaking his head a little. Why were they still living here? They need to be somewhere where Ben can grow up and have somewhere to run around and play. What if he and Blaine decide to have another baby? There isn't room here for another one. Kurt leans back and runs his fingers through his hair. He needs to stop stressing himself out. They're fine here for now.
"We're home!" Blaine announces happily, Ben on his hip, leaning his head on his shoulder.
"Hey." Kurt smiles and sits up, turning to look at them. "Did you have a nice time?"
"Say, yes we did!" He explains in a baby voice, looking at a sleepy Ben. "We went to the park and met some other doggies, went to visit Aunt Rachel and Uncle Finn, and then daddy stopped at Starbucks where I proceeded to flirt with the barista!"
He raises an eyebrow and stands up with a smile, gently taking Ben from Blaine's arms. "And who exactly was flirting with the barista?"
"Ben was, of course." He says in a normal voice as he sets down the coffees and removes his coat and scarf. "He was all smiles and look at me I'm so cute. He had that lady wrapped around his tiny, little baby fingers."
"Ladies man already, huh?" He sits down with Ben and unzips his puffy jacket, taking it off for him. It was still chilly for it being mid-November.
"Definitely." Blaine smiles at them. "He's pretty tired. Do you want me to put him down for a nap?"
"Nah, I got it." Kurt stands up and smiles as Ben nuzzles close, closing his eyes.
"Are you sure?"
"Positive. Be back in a few." He walks down the hall and into the nursery.
Blaine smiles after him and sighs happily, sitting down on the couch and picking up his coffee, taking a small sip. He reaches for the mail lying on the coffee table and leans back as he goes through it, sighing when he reaches his invitation for the military ball that's happening in a few days. He hasn't brought it up to Kurt again. He doesn't want to make him feel like he has to go, even though Blaine kind of does want to go. It would be good for him to see everyone again.
"What's that?" Kurt asks curiously as he walks back in and sits down beside Blaine.
"Nothing important." Blaine sets the mail down and hands Kurt his coffee with a smile. "Non-fat mocha."
"You're a saint." He sighs and takes a sip. "Mm…"
"How did therapy go?"
"It went okay, I guess." He shrugs and licks his lips, looking down at his coffee. "It… it was kind of private, if you don't mind…"
"No, of course…" He clears his throat and looks around awkwardly. "Well, uh… should I start dinner?"
"It's only two."
"You can start it if you want, though."
"No, it's fine. It's really early anyway."
"So…" Kurt says slowly, biting his lip as he turns to face his husband. "Did Moose behave at the park?"
"Of course he did." Blaine looks fondly across the room at Moose, who was jumping around by the balcony window, presumably trying to catch a fly. "He's such a good dog."
"He really is, albeit a little annoying." He smiles at him as well before turning his eyes back to Blaine, searching his face. "I saw the invitation to the military ball."
"Oh?" He looks at him, meeting his eyes.
"And before you even say anything, I want you to know that I would love to go with you." He explains, raising an eyebrow at the smile that appears on his husband's face. "But you have to promise not to embarrass me."
"And how exactly would I embarrass you?" Blaine laughs and sits up, setting his coffee on the table.
"Sweetheart, you haven't danced in three years." Kurt says with a small smirk, setting his coffee down as well. "I don't want you to hurt yourself on the dance floor."
"Oh, really…?" He laughs and stands up. "Stand up, mister! You and I are going to dance right here, right now, so I can show you my incredible moves!"
"You're on." He stands up and watches as Blaine turns on the radio, turning the volume down low.
Kurt can't help but start to laugh when Blaine turns around and gives him a seductive look, wiggling his eyebrows as shimmying over to him just as 'I'm Too Sexy' starts to play. Blaine shimmies right up against him, pursing his lips as Kurt laughs loudly and tries to push him away, but Blaine just grabs his hands and twirls him around in a circle before pulling him back into his arms, swaying his hips in ways that should be illegal in various countries. Kurt just keeps laughing, wrapping his arms around Blaine's shoulders and holding on tight, grinning. The song changes and his giggles slowly die down as Blaine wraps his arms around his waist and holds their bodies gently together, swaying lightly. Kurt looks into his eyes and smiles, resting their foreheads together as he laces his fingers behind his husband's neck.
"How were those moves?" Blaine asks quietly with a grin.
"Very impressive." Kurt replies with a small smirk, swaying in his arms. "I couldn't have been better."
"Duh." He rolls his eyes and pulls him closer until Kurt rests his head on his shoulder, snuggling close.
Kurt closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, pressing his face into his neck. It's been a while since they've been this close, and honestly, Kurt misses it so much. He feels Blaine's warm breath on his ear and he sighs, turning his head slightly to look into his eyes, their faces close. They both smile and Kurt leans up to press their lips together gently. He feels Blaine smile against his lips, causing him to smile as well. He pulls back and buries his nose into the fabric of his husband's shirt once more.
"Promise you won't leave me again." Kurt whispers, tucking his face into the crook of his neck.
"I promise." Blaine says without hesitation, tightening his arms around him and kissing his head. "I won't ever leave you again, Kurt…"
A/N: Alright. I don't know if this is off hiatus yet or not, but I cranked out this chapter... I have a few ideas for the next one. Guys, I am so sorry. I honestly feel terrible for not updating this as often as I should, but there's just something wrong with my mojo. I can't explain it. If you guys have anything you'd like to see in this fic of if there's something you think I left hanging or should revisit, PLEASE let me know. I desperately need inspiration because I am completely dry.
