I have made some minor changes to chapter 12 and I will update it as soon as I finish posting this chapter, so I suggest rereading the previous one before this one.

What's this? An update?! You mean the author hasn't died?

This chapter is a lot shorter than I hoped, but I couldn't really think of a better place to cut it off, so there you have it.

Nonetheless, I hope you enjoy it~!

Chapter 13: Christmas Nightmares

Edward Elric casually strolled down the halls of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The DA meetings were going well, so far they had managed to avoid being caught by Filch or Umbridge's little Inquisitorial Squad members. The students had come a long way in not only Alchemy but magic as well, thanks to Ed and Harry's teachings. Dumbledore's Army was on break for the holidays which gave everyone with some well-deserved rest. Ed had fallen asleep in the library and woke to find that it was the middle of the night. Slightly annoyed that no one had thought to wake him, he was now making his way back to his classroom when he bumped into Harry, Ron, and Professor McGonagall. Harry looked terrified and his pajamas were drenched in sweat.

"Harry, what's the matter?" Ed asked.

"P-Professor.." Harry stammered, his eyes wide with horror. Ed directed his stare to McGonagall.

"Professor, what happened?"

"Perfect timing, Professor. Headmaster Dumbledore wished you to join us. Come along." McGonagall stepped around Ed and continued leading the boys towards Dumbledore's office. Ed, a deep feeling of worry settling in the pit of his stomach, followed.

Ed stood in the corner of Dumbledore's office, silently watching the events unfold before him. He quickly learned that Harry had a nightmare about Ron's father being attacked, but what surprised Ed the most was seeing how seriously everyone was taking this news. Dumbledore informed some of the moving portraits who shared a frame in the ministry, and a few moments later he was informed that Mr. Weasley had in fact been attacked, but was saved in the nick of time. This news did not seem to relieve Harry much, he still looked a nervous wreck.

"LOOK AT ME!" Harry screamed, snapping Ed out of his thoughts. The poor boy was breathing heavily and his whole body was shaking, his eyes full of exhaustion and fear. He looked broken.

"What's happening to me?" At that moment, Snape stepped in.

"Ah, Severus, and not a moment too soon. We cannot wait until morning, if you please." Dumbledore gestured slightly towards Harry and Snape nodded, before grabbing Harry's arm and whisking him away, leaving the rest of the Weasley family standing in Dumbledore's office in silence.

"That will be all, everyone. So sorry to interrupt your sleep. Thank you for your help." One by one they filed out. Ed was about to leave, when Dumbledore called over to him.

"Professor Elric? If you wouldn't mind, look after Harry. You two aren't as different as you think." He smiled at the young alchemist.

"Yes sir." With that, Ed headed off to his quarters, falling asleep the second his head hit the pillow, as if he hadn't got enough sleep at the library.

Christmas break had come and most of the students were beginning to leave for home. Ed sat at the Gryffindor table in the Great Hall reading Hogwarts: A History. He had decided to stay in the castle for the break in case he was needed. He yawned and, deciding it was time for a nap, shut his book and prepared to leave.

"Professor Elric!" Ed turned to see Dumbledore walking towards him. He sighed, whenever Dumbledore needed something, it always ended up being trouble.

"Yes sir?"

"What are your plans for the holiday? Are you returning home to Amestris?" Ed shook his head.

"No, sir. I decided that I don't want to return to brother unless it's for good. I don't want to have to say goodbye again."

"Ah, great news," Dumbledore glanced around at the few students who were still lingering in the Great Hall. "Won't you follow me to my office so we may have a little more... privacy?" Ed sighed and got up, gathered his things, and walked alongside Dumbledore, the idea of his nap long gone.

"Now, Professor Elric, I'm sure by now you have learned about Lord Voldemort and what he has done."

"Yes sir." Ed wondered where this was going.

"I have been monitoring you closely, and it appears that you have begun to settle in rather nicely, would you agree?" Ed thought about his question for a moment.

"Yeah, I believed I've gotten used to the way things are around here. When I first arrived I wondered how the hell I was going to survive a whole year in this nut house, but now I realize that it really isn't so bad." Ed's mouth curved into a faint smile.

"Good, good. Now, what I am about to ask you does not fall among the requirements of your mission, so I completely understand if you refuse." Ed nodded, apprehensive of what was to come.

"Would you like to join the Order of the Phoenix?"

"The what...?" Ed asked.

"The Order of the Phoenix is a secret organization created with the intent to fight back against Lord Voldemort and his followers, the Death Eaters," Dumbledore sighed. "Regrettably, due to the reappearance of Voldemort last year, the Order has started up again. But we are a little short on members, and I believe you would be an invaluable addition" Ed said nothing and Dumbledore sighed once more.

"Not to worry, perhaps it is my fault for pushing you to get involved in matters that are none of you or your home's concern." Dumbledore turned and began to walk towards his fireplace.

"Headmaster!" Dumbledore turned around and Ed looked up, his eyes on fire and his mouth grinning.

"You had me at secret organization."

Told you it was short. Hope you aren't too disappointed. I have already begun on Chapter 14 so hopefully it will be finished soon.
