She feels positively Victorian, Andie realizes as she melts into Pacey's kiss. They've been fighting for so long this time, and all he wanted to do, she's finally accepted, was to help her. She's not used to any one other than Jack caring about her. She's accustomed to fighting her own battles and Demons, living in a world of pain and heartache from which Pacey seems determined to save her.

Her foot lifts as he deepens their kiss. Their tongues dance. With other guys, she might start to be afraid at this point, but Andie knows Pacey will never push her. He'll never take her to the next step unless she wants to go. He's the last of a breed, quite possibly the last gentleman still alive who's not gay, as Andie knows Jack is, even if her brother hasn't accepted his own sexual orientation yet.

Pacey wants to rescue her. He's like the Knights of old about whom Andie used to daydream when she believed that her world might one day get better, before her mother took a turn for the worse. For the first time in years, Andie doesn't have to fight her battles alone any more, and her smile as her lips curve even higher up against Pacey's as they keep kissing is the truest one she's worn since her brother's death.

She'd come to think she'd never let a guy in any more - that's one of the reasons why she's had so many arguments with Pacey -, but everything's changed now. Her hero's arrived, and Andie will let him help her to fight her battles as long as he wants. She just hopes he never stops loving her, because being without him, now that she's found him and their love, is one Hell she knows she couldn't survive.
