Silence. Followed by the inevitable,
"Hell." The bachelor whispered quietly from the sanctuary of his bed. The infernal phone just wouldn't shut up would it? It was so annoying. That damn thing would ring at any time of day or night. He should disconnect it from the wall at night. He didn't want to open his eyes this earlier in the morning. He had hours… kind of.
He let out a frustrated sigh and opened his eyes. Who ever that was, he was going to rip them a new one. He didn't care if it was a weekday; his work entailed long hard nights of working his fine ass off. He needed his sleep. Unless he had the pleasure of a lovely young lady's company then sleep be damned. He could sleep when he was dead!... or when he got home form a job cause he usually felt (and probably looked) dead.
He tossed the blankets aside and didn't bother with a shirt. He trudged down the worn stairs to his office and then there was silence. The ringing of the phone had stopped. Thank God. He sat at his desk, throwing his feet up onto the desk, the dramatic flare not needed but always present. He settled back in the old chair that creaked in protest. Clearing his throat, he let his lids fall closed over his icy hues again.
He slammed the legs of the chair on the floor, grabbing the phone as if flew form the receiver. "Devil May Cry, what the hell do you want?!"
"Its about time you answered your damn phone."
It was Morrison.
"Dante, I've got a jo-"
The Devil hunter turned and yanked the cord from the wall. He would start working in a couple of hours. He returned to his chair; eyes closed.
Hey guys~! For those of you who are still following me I love you very much! I know I'm generally awful for neglecting you all and I'm sorry. This is a piece I worked on for my writing class. My teacher said it was one of my best works. She likes pith... *shurgs* It was required to only be a page long. Some of you may recognize parts of it. Either way I hope you like it.
Reviews are the aphrodisiac of authors. PLEASE REVIEW! I know there are more chapters, but when you give me your opinion on each it helps me out so much more when I come back to fix stuff. The readers' opinion means so much to me. So being harsh is okay but along as it is constructive.
DISCLAIMER: I, sadly, do not own any characters from the various Devil May Cry series, nor do i make any money from this reproduction.
