Rachel entered the dance studio, setting her bag in the corner. She dreaded this class every week. She loved her other classes and even made several friends, but this class she was alone; Ms. July hated her, Brody was constantly staring at her, and Stephanie, Brianna, and Nicole whispered and glared, throwing out comments every time they saw her.
Brody strolled across the studio to where Rachel was stretching. "Rachel, it's been three weeks. Are you ever going to forgive me?"
Rachel sighed as she continued her warm ups. "Are you ever going to stop staring at me?"
"I can't help it. You're just so sexy." Brody grinned, his eyes wandering her body.
Rachel rolled her eyes. "You're disgusting. Please go back to your area and leave me alone."
"You better be warmed up because we're starting right away." Ms. July yelled as she entered the room, tossing her bag to the side. "Everyone partner up!"
Rachel watched as everyone quickly scattered for a partner, most were already standing near their partners. Brody grinned as he looked at her. They were the only two without a partner. "Guess we're partners."
Rachel knew better than to complain. She was already on Ms. July's bad side and voicing her complaint would only make things worse.
"You have three weeks to work on this assignment. You are to use the moves we have been working on to create your own dance with your partner. Please do not limit yourself to just these moves or I will rip my eyes out and fail you. It may be any type of genre; jazz, Broadway, hip-hop, whatever. Make it interesting. I'm sure ninety-nine percent of you sing, so if you'd like sing the song you choose to dance to. My only requirement is that you use at least five of the moves we have worked on the past two weeks. Get started, this is what you will be working on for the next three weeks. Performances will begin the fourth week."
Everyone began conversing with their partners, planning their dance. Brody grinned widely as he stared at Rachel. "I think we should do Marvin Gaye's Let's Get It On."
"That's not happening." Rachel spat. "Just…I'll come up with everything and you can…"
"No. I'm a part of this too. Besides I have experience with choreography."
"And how do you know I don't? You know nothing about me." Rachel retorted angrily.
"That wasn't an insult. I'm just saying I have experience so I can help."
"Fine." Rachel sighed. The two began to discuss ideas and plan their dance. With just ten minutes left, they began to practice what they had planned.
Brody stopped after a minute. "Why are you so tense? Would you just relax?"
"Sorry." Rachel muttered. She was uncomfortable. She didn't trust him and she was always uneasy around males she didn't know. She took a deep breath before continuing. She spun into him, attempting to imagine it was Finn's body against hers and not Brody's. Brody's hand slid up her waist and stopped against the side of her breast. Rachel felt her body freeze as his hand groped her. She pushed at his chest, stumbling backwards. "Don't touch me!"
Everyone paused to watch the scene unfold before them.
Brody lifted his hands in the air. "Relax."
Rachel's eyes darted around the room frantically as images of Jason and Jesse flashed through her mind. She breathed heavily, feeling everyone's eyes burn through her skin.
"What the hell is going on?" Ms. July's voice boomed, causing Rachel to flinch.
"H-he…he…" Rachel struggled to find her words.
"We were just practicing." Brody said. "She freaked out for no reason."
"I understand this is a performing arts school but can you stop being a drama queen? The fight for attention is obnoxious and ridiculous, Rachel."
"No, he…" She began.
"Oh please just stop." Ms. July groaned. "Everyone just finish up please. I've had enough of you guys today."
Rachel grabbed her bag and quickly left the room, ignoring the whispers and stares. She heard Stephanie call her an attention whore, but she kept walking. She headed to the bathrooms and changed back into her regular clothes. She jumped when she departed to from the bathroom and found Brody waiting against the wall.
Rachel shot him a glare before continuing for the stairs.
"Don't!" She screamed, spinning on her heels. "You know exactly what you did!"
"It was an accident."
Rachel felt fury ignite within her. "An accident? Are you serious? You and I both know it wasn't accident. You knew exactly what you were doing! I'll have the dance choreographed by next week and the only time you will talk to me is when we're rehearsing. And keep your hands where they belong."
"No! I'm done with you!" Rachel yelled before storming down the stairs, letting her curls down from her ponytail. Her heels clicked against the hard floor as she started for the door. She pulled out her phone, reading the message Finn just sent her. Got out of class early. Kurt and Blaine still at movies w/ kids. Meet me at the Starbucks by my school?
Rachel quickly replied. Just leaving now. I'll be there in fifteen minutes.
Finn entered Starbucks and glanced at the clock. Rachel would probably arrive shortly. He ordered himself a hot chocolate and bagel, as well as Rachel's usual order. He sat at an empty table and pulled out his phone while he waited.
Finn lifted his head to meet the eyes of Katie, a girl who was in a few of his classes. "Oh hey, Katie."
"Are you meeting someone?" She asked, pointing to the extra drink on the table.
"Yeah, my girlfriend."
"Girlfriend? That's too bad. You're a very attractive guy." Katie smiled flirtatiously as she sat in the chair next to Finn.
"Oh um…thanks." Finn burrowed his eyebrows.
"I'm probably prettier than her." She whispered as she leaned in and pressed her lips against his.
Rachel entered the coffee house, her eyes searching for Finn. She froze when she saw him. She blinked more than once to make sure her eyes weren't tricking her, but there practically on top of her boyfriend was a blonde girl with her lips attached to his.
She felt tears well in her eyes. Never in a million years did she think she would find her boyfriend kissing another girl.
Finn pushed Katie away and sighed when he saw Rachel turning to leave. "Rachel, wait!"
He watched as she pushed through the door, disappearing into the crowded street. "Look what you did. Why did you do that? I don't like you, I love her. And no, you're not prettier than her."
"Finn…" Katie started.
"No, don't talk to me." Finn stood and stormed out the door.
Rachel threw her coat and bag on the floor as she entered the apartment. She collapsed on the couch, tears erupting from her eyes. How could this happen? How could he do this to her? What did this mean now? What would she tell Liam?
She turned her head as she heard the door click open. Finn entered, feeling his heart shatter at the sight of her crying. "Rachel, it's not…"
"Don't!" She shouted, standing up from the couch. "How could you do this? I thought you loved me!"
"I do love you! I didn't kiss her, she kissed me." Finn explained.
"It sure didn't look like that!"
"Well not from your view. You saw her back, you could barely even see me!" Finn walked over to her and rested his hands on her arms. "Rachel, I would never do something like that to you. I love you and you know that."
Rachel pushed his hands off and took a step back. "No! Go ahead leave! This is your perfect excuse! I'm tying you down! Go! Go and be free to live like a college student! Go run off with your pretty little blonde!"
"Are you kidding me? After all we've been through you still think I would leave?"
"This is the perfect time! You couldn't when everything first happened because it would make you look like a horrible person, but now it's been over a year."
"Are you fucking kidding me?" Finn shouted. "Do you hear yourself? I can't believe you! Has our relationship meant anything to you?"
"Of course it has! It clearly hasn't to you since you're going around kissing girls!"
"I didn't kiss her! I can't believe that after all this time you still can't trust me! I had to trust you after you made out with Puck!"
"Don't!" Rachel yelled. "Don't go there! You know my reasons behind that and you know I didn't even want to! And I wouldn't have if you didn't sleep with Santana!"
"I wasn't in a relationship with you when I slept with her!"
"Why'd you do it? Because she's hot? Because she was popular? Because she's not damaged like me?"
"Would you stop? You know I don't like her! That's was a mistake! And it was almost three years ago!"
Both their heads flung to the door as it opened. Kurt and Blaine entered with the kids.
"Mommy!" Liam shouted excitedly as he ran over to hug Rachel.
"Hey baby." Rachel's voice cracked as she bent down to kiss Liam's head.
"Is everything okay?" Kurt asked sensing the tension in the room.
"Just Rachel being her insecure self." Finn said, his voice bitter.
"How dare you!" Rachel yelled in a whisper.
"We'll take the kids to our apartment." Kurt said, taking Liam's hand. He and Blaine left with the kids, exchanging looks. "That doesn't sound good."
"I'm sure they'll work it out. I've never heard them fight before." Blaine said.
"I'm insecure? Really?" Rachel asked furiously.
"Am I saying anything that's not true?"
"You of all people should understand why I'm insecure! You know what I've been through!" Rachel screamed.
"You blame everything on 'what you've been through'."
Rachel's face faltered for a moment. "I'm sorry but it hasn't exactly been a walk in the park. I wouldn't have all these issues if I hadn't gone through what I did!"
"So you not trusting me, is all because of Jason and Jesse?"
Rachel flinched at the mention of their names. "I do trust you! If I didn't trust you I would never have let you get close to my kids! I have trouble trusting people I don't know, okay? But I trust my friends and family and especially you before you decided to kiss that girl!"
"I didn't kiss her!" Finn threw his hands in the air in exasperation.
"She kind of reminds me of Quinn; tall, blonde, skinny, pretty."
"Oh so now we're bringing Quinn into this? I never even loved Quinn!"
"No, maybe not, but you kept going back to her because she's beautiful." Rachel said. "You're going to tell me that that girl and Quinn and Santana aren't prettier than me?"
"Here we go again!" Finn yelled. "I suppose the whole 'I think I'm ugly' and comparing yourself to everyone else is from Jason and Jesse too?"
Rachel couldn't believe the words falling out of his mouth. "Maybe! Maybe because the entire school bullied me for four years! I was called names on a daily basis! Manhands, freak, Rupaul…the list goes on and on! Do you think hearing that twenty times a day for four years makes me feel pretty?"
"So go run off with Puck! I'm sure he'd love to make you feel pretty!"
Rachel inhaled sharply. "You have no right to say that! I was in a bad place and I was trying to prove something to you. I would never have done it if you didn't sleep with Santana!"
"Oh but I apparently kissed a girl so does that mean you'll do it again?"
"No! You know I would never do that! You know why I did that, so don't even bring it up!"
"Aren't the reasons still there? It's not like you're any less of a prude!" Finn screamed, instantly regretting his words when he saw the look of hurt across Rachel's face. Her face fell and her shoulders dropped. "Rachel…"
"No, leave!" Rachel shouted as tears blurred her vision. She pointed to the door. "Just leave!"
"Rachel, I didn't…"
"No, go!" She shook her head, struggling to hold back the tears.
Finn sighed with defeat and left the apartment, slamming the door behind him. Rachel flinched at the sound and collapsed onto the couch. Sobs erupted from her lips as she attempted to process what just occurred. What did this mean? They have never had a fight as huge as this one. They barely even fought since they got back together the last time.
She cried on the couch for five minutes before the door clicked open. She turned her head and found Kurt. "Rachel…"
"Where are the kids?" She asked nervously.
"Still at my apartment with Blaine. And Finn. He came over and told us you kicked him out." Kurt sat down next to his friend and gently stroked her back.
"I don't know how it got this bad." Rachel choked out. "I know he didn't kiss that girl. I mean I did initially when I saw it…but so much happened today and I was just on edge already and…"
Rachel looked away, taking sudden interest in her hands.
"Rachel, what happened?" Kurt repeated. He knew she was avoiding the question, which meant something definitely upset her.
"We had to have partners in dance and everyone partnered up leaving just me and Brody. He kept making comments of course and then when we were practicing our dance he…his hand wandered and I just…it's stupid."
"No it's not. Where did his hand wander to exactly?" Kurt asked with concern.
"My chest." She muttered. "I freaked out and started thinking about…everything and I screamed at him and the whole class started staring and Ms. July told me I was being a drama queen because he told her we were just practicing."
"And you went to see Finn and saw this girl kissing him?" Kurt asked, earning a nod from Rachel. "You've had a day from Hell. Finn wouldn't do that to you. He's crazy about you."
"I know, but it's not even about that anymore. I'm so angry and hurt at what he said and I'm sure he is hurt about some things I said."
"I think you guys need to talk. I'll keep the kids…"
"No." Rachel interjected, shaking her head as tears continued to trickle down her cheeks. "I don't want to talk to him right now. I think…I think I need some time to myself."
"What are you saying?" Kurt asked worriedly.
"I don't mean taking a break, but at least for tonight. I'm…I'm hurt and angry and neither of us are in the right mind to talk right now." Rachel sniffled. "Can you just send the kids back please? I don't want to talk about this anymore."
Kurt nodded with a frown. He knew this wasn't good for Rachel. She was dealing with enough and now fighting with Finn would only add more stress. "If you need me at any time, I don't care if it's four in the morning, call me or ring my bell."
Rachel nodded. "Thank you, Kurt."
"I'll be back in a minute with the kids. Are you sure you don't need me to stay and help out?"
Rachel shook her head. "I take care of them on my own all the time."
"I know, but you're upset right now."
"It's not like it's anything new." Rachel said in a low voice.
Kurt frowned again before standing and starting for the door. "I'll be back in a minute."
Rachel stared at the door as it closed behind him. He returned only minutes later, one hand holding Liam's hand and the other holding Lily. Liam dropped Kurt's hand and hopped to his mother on the couch. "Mommy! Why Daddy at Uncle Kurt's?"
Rachel's face faltered as she struggled to think of an answer. "Well…he needs to help Uncle Kurt and Blaine fix stuff in their house so he has to stay the night."
Rachel held her breath as she watched the thoughts running through her son's head. She knew her story was not too believable, but she was hoping he would believe it. "Oh. When he come back?"
"Maybe tomorrow." Rachel said, grateful he believed her story.
Kurt handed Lily to Rachel and headed to the door. "I'm heading out, but remember if you need anything at all, call me."
Rachel nodded and watched Kurt leave.
