"I can't lose you again." Francis said, tears in her eyes. Now that her brother was safe and the 'Boogeyman' actually turned out to be Francis' own Imaginary Friend, Zoe, both Zoe and Larry were telling her that they could never see her again. Zoe tried to explain it but Larry held up his hand and stepped forward. He gently cupped her face in his hands and kissed her.
"Don't you think that you're a little too old?"
"Maybe I am…" Francis whispered, touching her fingertips to her lips.
"Just because you're getting older, doesn't mean you have to get old." Larry said, his usual charm coming back. Then he and Zoe turned and walked away. As he did so, Larry couldn't stop thinking about the kiss. It hadn't been smart. But he had wanted to do it ever since she had first seen him. It was then that he knew she was special. He felt a need for her pull him back. Half-way down the street he stopped. Zoe stopped as well.
"What is it?" She asked in her distinctive British accent. Larry shook his head.
"Um, Darwin needs me." He lied and poofed. When he appeared he had a letter in his hands. Darwin smiled at the sight of his Imaginary Friend.
"Larry! But I didn't-"
"Oh. I know." Larry laughed. He sat on the side of Darwin's bed. "But I wanted you to give this to Francis for me." He gave the folded paper to the boy.
"Is it important?" Darwin asked. Larry nodded.
"Very." Larry confirmed. Darwin smiled, but then faded to confusion.
"Then why don't you give it to her yourself?"
Larry sighed. He smiled nervously and scratched the back of his head.
"Well, I'm gonna tell you a big secret." He paused and leaned close. "I'm not allowed to see your sister again. But I really want to."
At this Darwin gave him a skeptical look. Larry gave the look right back.
"What'ch'u lookin' at little man?" He asked. Darwin rolled his eyes.
"Do you have a crush on my sister or something?" Darwin asked. Larry felt his blood rush to his face. Darwin laughed.
"Really? Gross." He chuckled. Larry put his fists on his hips.
"Hey, buddy, don't be rude." Larry replied indignantly. Still laughing, Darwin nodded.
"yeah, I know." He laughed. "I'll give it to her."
