Ha, well, um….hi? It totally hasn't been four months, heh…..yea my bad guys XD Well here's the next chapter now, so that's something, right? Right? ….ok well here it is, don't kill me please…..
So the past couple weeks have been absolutely amazing. My dad mumbled some protest about "that orphan boy", but I reminded him that one, he's no longer an "orphan", since his parents are and have been back. And two, I've gone through so much crap cause of Miriam for him, I fucking deserved this. Though I'm not entirely sure this is the end of it, so I'm going to have to keep an eye out for his bullshit. It's been great, being with Arnold. Halloween was awesome; he threw a great party at the boarding house. It was where we made our relationship official and obvious to those who were still unsure, and there were some; despite the copious amounts of PDA we've performed at school. I'm still not sure how some people feel still, I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens.
Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and I'm excited. I hope Arnold invites me to his place for it, that'd be kinda amazing. His grandmother still makes everyone dress up in period wear and sets off fireworks, but the food is purely that of turkey day, so it's a fun mixture. I'm excited for the holidays coming up either way, because I'll be spending them with my beloved. I'm thinking of all this as he's pulling up to take me to school. I bound down the stairs, smelling snow in the air, and hop in the Packard.
"Hey trouble, how was your night?" he greets me with a smirk.
"Haha hi football head….could've been better, but I'm here with you now, so my heart is soaring," I responded before I gave him a kiss hello. "Miriam was having some withdrawal issues, so she was pretty bitchy. But it was doable. Like I said, I'm better now that I'm with you my love." I said with a grin. He grins back at me as he pulls out into the street. We chat and laugh as we make our way to and into school. We walk through the halls hand in hand. I still can't believe this is my life, that Arnold actually loves ME.
We head to his locker first, as it was closer to the front entrance. There were a group of girls standing nearby, giggling like morons as we came closer. Oooookay, weird. I was about to point the out to Arnold, but they dashed off. I decided it was nothing, shrugged it off, and moved on. Something similar happened before third period, which we share together, but again it didn't last long enough for me to make a note of it to Arnold. I was heading to lunch with Phoebe when I found out why.
"Hey Helga, did you know that nominations for senior superlatives have begun today?" she inquired as we headed to the lunch line.
"Oh geez that crap? That's more annoying than damn prom king and queen nominations." I responded with a huff. She raised an eyebrow at me. "What? I love being a senior and all, but all of this stuff is just a popular contest."
"Well your protests are a little ironic, seeing as how you've been nominated."
"Yea I – wait….nominated? ME? For what?"
"Well," she begins as she adjusts her glasses, "according to my calculations, you are in the running for funniest, most sarcastic, and….hottest girl." I could only gape at her in shock. "And….Arnold is in the running for hottest guy." That's where my jaw got acquainted with the floor.
"Ar….Arnold? As in MY boyfriend? As in the love of my freaking life is being judged like a freaking piece of meat?" I continued to splutter in disbelief. Phoebe just stared at me as I ranted; only chiming in when I couldn't do more than mumble in contempt.
"Uh…Helga? Shouldn't you be having this reaction to your nominations? I mean, this is quite peculiar."
"Well, the funniest and most sarcastic ones would be awesome, and I hope I get them. But I know I'll never win hottest girl. It'll probably end up being Rhonda."
"Actually, if what I've been told is correct, Rhonda is the reason you're in the running. I believe she nominated you as an act of apology, for some of the bad experiences you two have shared in the past. She said she wants to end things on a positive note with everyone, not just you. She says she wants to do something special for every one of those she has wronged by 'being a selfish spoiled bitch, no matter how big or small the incident is or was', to quote her."
"Huh…well, I guess Princess really has grown up," I remarked, impressed. "So who nominated Arnold Pheebs?"
"Well it appears that it was Sara."
"Sara… Sara Robinson? Arnold's two – month girlfriend from freshman year? The tiny chick on the squad? Her?"
"Precisely my friend."
"But….why? Didn't she move on like, ages ago? In fact, I thought she was dating some college guy that graduated last year."
"She is, but maybe she hasn't moved on as much as we thought." By this point in our conversation we were heading out of the lunch line, and to the table, so we had to put our words on hold for a moment, lest we be heard by prying ears. We reach the table, where the boys were already seated.
"Sooo…." I began. "Did you guys hear about the senior superlatives?" All of them shook their head no. I sighed; of course the boys haven't been listening to gossip. "Well….I've been nominated for funniest, most sarcastic, and hottest girl. And Arnold's been nominated for hottest guy." At that, Arnold choked on his soda, then stared at me in disbelief.
"Uh…first off…con-congrats Helga…..secondly….I've been WHAT? I'm not….I mean, I don't think I'm…..really? I jus….huh…..damn." And his rambling ended there, and he sat there, looking stunned. I raised an eyebrow, was it really that far-fetched of an idea? Did he really not know how good looking he really was?
"Uh..Arnold? Hey, babe, you ok?" I shook him a little to get him out of his stupor. He blinked and looked over at me, then chuckled.
"Yea, I'm alright. Sorry guys, guess I overreacted a little. I just, wow hottest guy? And it seems like I'm dating the hottest girl in the school," he says with a smirk. I chuckled, blushing slightly. I turn to Phoebe as her phone, dings, indicating an incoming text. I look at her in question. She snickers, and then looks over at me and my boyfriend.
"Guess what Rhonda has just informed me of? You two, my dear friends, along with Gerald and I, are in the running for hottest/class couple." We stopped our wordless flirting, and turned our heads in unison. Huh…well…. I guess that wasn't too far behind. It was easier to swallow then Arnold's nomination. All I can say, is this will be very interesting.
I walked into cheer practice that afternoon, excited to let off some steam. I sat down with Nadine and Rhonda as we all began stretching.
"Hey, Princess thanks for all the nominations. They actually got some support, and I'm in the running for everything I was nominated for."
"You're welcome Helga, you deserved it. I've done some things to you, and I want to be sure we end our school experience on a totally positive note. Plus, I saw the effort you've made to transform yourself. And I know you're not a shallow person, but I also know that something like that couldn't be easy. So maybe, hopefully, this will forever be a reminder that yes; you did make the right decision by letting your inner beauty shine on the outside." I blinked in astonishment.
"Wow, um, thanks Rhonda, really. I didn't really think anyone noticed like that, other than Arnold obviously ha-ha." The girls giggled in response. I glance out of the corner of my eye and see Sara approach our little cluster, her eyes on me. Huh, I wonder what this is about. I stand up to greet her.
"Hey Sara, what's up?"
"Helga….so I guess you've heard about the superlatives nominations."
"Yea…" I responded, unsure of where she was going with this.
"And so I guess you have also learned that it was I who nominated Arnold for hottest guy, and got my friends to second it to put him in the running?"
"Uh, yea, kinda…"
"Have you figured out whyyy…?" she drawled out with a smirk.
"Noooo…." I returned, slightly suspicious now.
"Yea…I want Arnold back. I dumped the guy I was with a couple weeks ago, and I was going to talk to him about getting back together. But then I heard, and saw, that he was with YOU, of all people. The girl who was always 'just a friend to him' was suddenly more. I could not BELIEVE it. You are a sneaky bitch, you know that? I have to applaud you. but I hope you've had your fill. Because I'm getting that sexy hunk of a blonde back and there is NOTHING you can do about it."
And with that she twirled around and headed over to the other side of the gym, sitting to stretch with a couple of the freshman girls. I turn to the others, wondering if they heard. By the looks on their faces, they have. I sat back down, resuming my stretches.
"Well girls, I don't know where this will lead, but it looks like, it's time for Ol' Betsy and the Five Avengers to come out of retirement."
Alright, finally, got something down haha. Don't kill me guys, please? Or at least do it with kindness….anyway, hope you guys like it, and enjoyed what I've thrown in this chapter. And don't worry, Helga isn't literally going to be beating up anyone…well, yet anyway XD Review and such please :D
