Capping Day is coming. I am long past balls and slingshots. Long past why and how. I do not ask that it not hurt, and I do not ask to stay. All I ask is that it work. I will go, put on a show, marching and waving, bowing to clapping. I will wait for my summons and that giant arm will grab and clutch. I will watch and go limp as any man or woman would do. Mom and dad will grin proudly and say: "Happy Capping Day- our child is grown! Our child was willing and worthy."
