It was dusk, and he was walking slowly down an alley, the darkness from the predominant buildings shading over his body like a shadowy veil. While most people would be home, celebrating the holidays with their family, he was alone. But he was used to being alone. It was what he had known his entire life. He watched a girl with greenish-blue hair wearing a gray beanie hat walk across the sidewalk. Around her neck was a red scarf, the ends flapping about in the wind.
I wonder why she's out here, all alone. Maybe she's in the same boat as I am, he thought. His thoughts were interrupted when a harsh wind kicked in, blowing the girl's hat off. Of course, he could not relate, since his certain hairstyle sort of prevented him from wearing hats. He watched as the girl ran onto the street to get her hat.
That he most certainly could not relate to, because besides the fact that he never wore hats, even if he did, he would not run onto the street to get it. His thoughts vanished as he heard the loud blaring horn of a truck.
He ran towards the girl, who looked up and noticed the truck. Before she could even blink, he had tackled her onto the sidewalk right as the truck whizzed by. Both of them were breathing hard, their breath rising in vapors, and he stood and helped her up.
"Thank you, thank you so much," she said. "You could've gotten killed, but you... thank you!" He noticed a small tear forming in her eye.
"Hey, it's all right, we're both fine. You're safe now." he said.
"I- I don't even know your name."
"I'm Yomiel. Nice to meet you."
"I'm Sissel. Thank you so much!"
