Hermione winced as another contraction hit her. She held onto the kitchen counter, using it to brace herself.
"Percy!" she called. "We really need to go!"
"Just a minute! I just have to grab one more thing!"
Hermione rolled her eyes. She had thought they had been prepared for the birth. Percy and her had done their baby bag and packed away some clothes for the two of them. However, Percy apparently decided they were still missing crucial items and was now running about the house in a mad frenzy.
Another contraction hit.
"Seriously, Percy!" she called out. "I'm going to go without you!"
Percy skidded into the living room, bags in hand. He quickly shrunk them, stuffing them into his pocket.
"All right, let's go," he said, gently ushering her towards the fireplace. "How close are the contractions?"
"Close enough," Hermione murmured. "Let's go."
They both stepped into the fireplace, Percy bringing them both to St. Mungo's.
Sasha, whom Percy had sent a Patronus too, was waiting for them.
"Come on, right this way," she said, helping to bring Hermione to the room prepared.
Hermione was nervous. As she predicted, her pregnancy didn't go full term. She was a week away from being eight months pregnant. Sasha, however, assured her that the baby should be fine once she's born.
She suddenly grasped onto Percy's shoulder, squeezing tightly as the contraction hit. She clenched her teeth, wishing the pain in her abdomen would go away.
Percy winced under her grip, but did his best to help her. "Come on; let's get you in the bed."
Hermione got onto the bed, groaning. "Can you give me anything?"
Sasha nodded. "I'll go grab some potions that should help ease some of the pain." She swiftly exited the room.
"Are you in pain?" Percy asked, brushing some hair out of her face.
Hermione barked out a crazy sounding laugh. "Of course I'm in pain!" she practically screeched. "A watermelon is trying to come out of my body."
Percy wanted to laugh but the insane look in Hermione's eyes told him that wasn't the answer.
"Oh, Merlin, it hurts!" she cried as another contraction hit.
He gently kissed her forehead. "I know, baby, I know. But you're okay… You'll be okay."
Hermione shook her head, panicking. "I don't think I can do this."
"Of course you can," Percy stated. "You really don't have a choice."
Apparently that was the wrong thing to say.
Hermione swung her first upwards, crashing it into his nose.
"What the hell!" he cried, trying to stop the flow of blood.
"This fucking hurts!" Hermione cussed, gripping the edge of the bed tightly.
Sasha entered the room at that moment. "Oh, what happened?" she asked, taking in Percy's broken nose. She chuckled. "Say something you shouldn't have?"
Percy could only nod.
Pulling out her wand, Sasha healed his broken nose. She quickly gave Hermione the necessary potions.
"Well, Hermione, I think it's time. On the count of three, you can start pushing."
Hermione lay back, her eyes fluttering close.
"Do you want to hold her?" Sasha asked after cleaning Cassiopeia up.
Hermione's eyes snapped open. "Yes, let me see her."
Sasha gently placed the small baby into Hermione's arms. "She's a tiny one but she's got a very strong heartbeat. You'll have to stay in the hospital for a few days, but I don't see any complications."
"Thank you," Percy said, giving her a smile.
"I'll leave you too alone." Sasha smiled before leaving the room.
Hermione looked down at her baby girl. In that moment, all of the doubt and uncertainty she had felt disappeared. She had never imagined she'd love anyone as much as she loved her sweet Cassiopeia.
"She's beautiful," Percy murmured, looking down at them both. "You did amazing, love."
Hermione smiled at her, blushing. "I'm sorry I broke your nose. I didn't mean too. The pain was just so much and you laughing wasn't helping."
Percy chuckled. "It's all right. All healed."
"But still," Hermione protested.
"Trust me, it was nothing, Hermione."
Hermione nodded, quiet for a moment. "I'm exhausted."
"I know, but there's something I need to ask you."
"What?" she asked, looking at him with confusion.
"Hermione Granger, will you marry?" He reached into a pocket and pulled out a ring.
"What?" she asked, her jaw dropping. She certainly wasn't expecting that.
"I love you, Hermione, more than anything in this world. Will you please marry me? Please?"
She smiled, tears streaming down her face. "Of course I will! Oh, Percy, yes."
He bent down and kissed her. "I love you so much."
"I love you, too," she whispered, looking at him lovingly before glancing at their daughter. "I'm so lucky."
"No, I think I'm the lucky one."
Percy took Cassiopeia into his arms and held her while Hermione got some sleep. There was nothing else in the world that he could possibly want.
