A/N: Just read it.
The girl cried. She was in a mass of bodies, trying to wade through and help them. They were all injured children. She took off her cloak that kept her warm in the frigid air, and threw it over a shivering girl. She bent down, and over the roaring wind, she whispered in the girl's ear.
"Are you alright?" she said, and the girl, looking very small and scared, nodded. The color was slowly returning to her cheeks as the girls' jacket brought warmth to her. The girl reached out to her savior, and threw her arms around her, and the girl hugged her back.
Something was happening. The girl didn't notice. She was too intent on saving the smaller child. The girl saw, and was frightened, and she tried to warn her savior, but she couldn't move her arms. Her savior lifted her with surprising strength, and kissed her on the forehead.
"Just close your eyes, the sun is going down, you'll be alright, no one can hurt you now, come morning light, you and I'll be safe and sound." the girl sang to her child. It was an old lullaby often sung to get a frightened child through the night, that tomorrow is new hope. The child was getting frantic. She could tell something bad was about to happen. She was looking at something behind the girl.
The girl turned around, and looked up. Another girl she did not know. She was hugging a pole like it was her life, and she tried to detach herself, but it looked sticky. The girl found herself wishing she'd drop the girl and run. The girl on the pole was screaming her name. Over and over again. Like it would be the last thing she'd ever say and wanted to make it count.
With a shock, she knew who it was. She knew what was going to happen. Hadn't she over heard them, talking about it? She grabbed her child's hand and tried to run, but the mass of people was thickening. The girl screamed. A name. In response.
And it was the last thing she ever said. She loved this girl, her sister.
"Katniss!" and an explosion rocked her. She was knocked backwards, her whole being torn apart. She had enough left in her to think, You and I'll be safe and sound…for the girl and herself.
Primrose Lily Everdeen slumped backwards, with no other thought of her sister, and died. Safe and sound.
A/N: I can't even think about it. How much I'm going to miss him.
