Just another one of those really short one-shots. Enjoy.
The black haired man dropped to his knees next to the grave sites of his parents and the only two people who had come close. He reached out a hand to touch the stone with the name of his godfather as tears streamed down his face. He didn't see the four spirits that were hanging nearby, or see the sad expressions when the first words out of his mouth were, "I'm so sorry."
"Siri, I'm sorry that I didn't work harder to occlude my mind. I should have done more." Harry didn't notice someone running towards them.
"Remus, I'm so sorry that I worked too slowly, that you died so soon after the birth of your son."
Severus sank down to his knees beside Harry. "Harry please tell me you didn't drink it. PLEASE."
Harry reached his hand up and pressed it against the man's face. "I'm sorry Sev. I just couldn't do it anymore. I couldn't handle all of the expectations that came along with being the Boy-Who-Lived, the chosen one, vanquisher of Voldemort."
Severus pulled the boy into his arms and started rocking him as he cried. "I love you Harry. Why did you have to drink it? Why?"
As the boy took his last breath, smelling the herby scent that laced the robes of the potions master, he said softly, "because you love me. Everybody who loves me dies."
"Harry no." Came the strangled cry when Severus felt the boy's body shudder once more before he lay still in his arms.
"Daddy." Came a cry from behind him, and Severus started sobbing.
"Stay there Jamie. I'll be there in a second."
"But papa, is daddy okay?" A little boy asked, appearing beside him.
"No. Daddy went to be with Grandma Lily and Grandpa James. And Uncle Sirius."
"Why did he leave?"
Severus's shoulders shook harder. "Because he loved us too much."
