A/N: This is just a really really short drabble that's been stuck in my head. Hope you like it!

He knew she wouldn't know how to tell the bloody difference but he insisted on doing it all the same. Jus' a tiny lil' word. But it meant so much more.

"Buffy, love, we'll find a way." He patted her shoulder tentatively.

"How? God, I'm so lost, Spike. I don't know what to do anymore. Dawn isn't going to school, and it turns out she's been stealing from all over the place, we have no money to pay the mortgage and now welfare's back on our arses." The blonde ran her fingers through her golden hair, tugging at it lightly.

Spike had seen a lot of tears in his day; Drusilla's tears of frustration, his victims' tears of terror, his mother's tears of sorrow, but nothing could have prepared him for the pain Buffy's tears of misery caused him. He knew she just needed someone there for her now. And no sodding way in hell was he not going to do his best to help her. He threw caution to the wind and wrapped and arm around her, pulling her in close.

"I'm here love. Don't worry. We'll get through this." His rough hand smoothed her hair. Buffy snuggled (snuggled of all things!) closer to spike and took his hand in hers.

"Spike?" Buffy's voice wasn't angry or demanding for once.

"Yeah, love?" He rested his head atop hers.

"Don't you usually say 'luv'?"

Well… maybe she knows the difference.
