Adrian POV
After I got Rose back to her dorm room, I sat with her until she was able to calm down. The fact that we had to sit and wait for Lissa and Christian to finish their activities before she could regain some control creeped me out a little. Or a lot. Especially since I would have much rather been tumbling Rose than listening to her cry out from pleasure vicariously delivered. Longing for a really strong drink, I started investigating.
Rose said that the first time she had felt feelings for Christian had been right after the Strigoi had fed from her and then taunted Christian with how much Rose would want his bite. There was no charm involved in this case, so my next best guess was compulsion. What I couldn't understand is how compulsion would still be in effect now that the Strigoi were all dead. Even the strongest Strigoi couldn't survive decapitation. But nothing else made sense. Shaking my head and once again wishing for some whiskey, I went to find Eddie. He had been the closest person to Rose in that room. I just hoped that he wasn't too spaced out from the bites to remember anything.
It took me about twenty minutes to find Eddie. Every minute grated on my nerves. Rose was supposed to meet up with Lissa and Christian in an hour. I really don't think Rose can handle following the boy around all day.
"Eddie, I need to talk to you."
"What about?"
"Isaiah."
Eddie's features immediately hardened. "I can't help you. Sorry." He turned away.
I grabbed his arm. "Rose is in trouble. She knows I'm here talking to you."
Eddie's eyebrows drew together in concern. Then suspicion darkened his eyes, "How do I know you are telling the truth?"
"You don't. But you saw what happened with Rose this morning. When I found her, she was so panicked she wasn't making any sense. I think Isaiah may have compelled her. You were closest. Did he say anything before or after he bit her that seemed odd?"
"It all seemed odd, Mr. Ishakov. He was insane. A sadistic son of a **."
"Did he tell her to do anything?"
"I don't remember much of anything from most of those last two days."
"I need you to think, Eddie. Isaiah came in. Rose distracted him from you, asked him to feed from her. He said something to Christian. He told Isaiah to go to hell."
Eddie interrupted, his eyes unfocused, his mind obviously far away, "He... he called her 'little damphir'. I remember watching her flinch at the name. She begged him. I knew she was just trying to protect me. I wanted to tell her no. To tell him to drink from me. But... he bit her. I could hear her gasp. I tried to ignore the sounds she made after that. I knew she wouldn't want anyone to hear them. When he finished, he said something... Something about Christian." He stopped.
"What about Christian?" I asked, knowing that this was probably what I had been looking for.
Eddie's eyes focused back on me. He shook his head, his face apologetic. "That's all I remember. I was really out of it. Mia said I was floating in and out of consciousness for most of the time we were tied up. I'm sorry."
I growled in frustration. My hands itched with the need to do serious violence. Eddie's aura shifted as he became anxious over my reaction. I needed a drink. I hadn't had one yet today. With effort, I pulled my attention back to Eddie, forcing myself to focus, to think. "Alright, come with me."
Eddie hesitated, looking wary, "Where are we going?"
"I have a bit of talent with getting information out of a person's unconcious."
"No. No, I am not messing with any Moroi magic."
Grabbing him by the front of his shirt, I pulled him forward until there were only a couple inches between my bared teeth and his face. "Rose needs to know what that filthy **ing piss poor excuse for a man told her to do. Hopefully before she goes crazy. So you are going to help me or so help me God..." I let the threat hang.
Eddie shoved me off of him, his face showing anger but his aura showing fear. The inconsistency between the real and the forced feelings rolling off of him made my head hurt. He stared at me for a little while longer, the anger fading off his face and the fear fading as well. "What do you want to do?"
"I can create dreams for people, even interact with them through their dreams. So I will help you go to sleep, then your dream self will tell me what I need to know. You have the memory, you just can't recall it. You will remember the entire dream when you wake up, so you don't have to worry." I added imperiously, "Now let's go." I began walking away and a grim smile settled on my lips when I heard Eddie follow. I would find out what the hell happened to Rose. I would fix this. And then I'd have that damn drink.
A/N I know its short but its been forever since my last post, so I had to get something up. I'm already working on the next chapter though!
