Hey everyone! Here's a really short story I wrote about my favorite Harry Potter couple. It's set during their sixth year at Hogwarts. Hope you enjoy!
"Really Hermione, you can't just go over it?"
"Go over it?! I bet there's barely anything to go over!"
It was a typical school night in the Gryffindor Common Room and for what seemed like the hundredth time this month, Hermione and I were arguing. Tonight's debate was my unfinished Charms homework, which I was currently holding in my hand.
"You're just going to trick me or guilt me into doing it for you, as always. But I won't fall for it. Not anymore."
"I'm not trying to trick you into anything. I really do just want you help."
I looked over to Harry who was sitting on the couch, silently asking for his assistance. He shrugged as if to say, 'Sorry mate, you're on your own.' But that may have had something to do with my sister's head on his shoulder and them sitting so bloody close to each other. I shook my head and turned back to Hermione, but before I could speak a word, she beat me to it.
"You are aware you're going to be taking the N.E. on your own next year, right? You know, I'm quite surprised you got through your O. !"
"Ouch." I heard Ginny say.
"Well, I'm not asking you to take my N.E. for me. It's just homework."
"It's always homework Ron. That's all you ever need me for."
"Oh, come off it! That's not true!"
"It's not? I can't recall a single time when you or Harry did not ask me-."
"Oi, that's not fair Hermione! I did the assignment already!" Harry shouted from the couch.
"Well then," she faced Harry, "why don't you help Ron?"
"He's not as good at Charms as you are." I answered for him. "No offense mate." I wasn't able to see or hear his response.
"Then find someone else to help you."
"But you're the brightest witch of our age! Surely they call you that for a reason."
"Yes, but I'm sure it's not for perfectly able boys such as yourself to ask me for 'help' on a simple Charms assignment nearly every day for the past five years!" She was angry now. I could tell. "I mean, honestly Ronald-."
"I love when you call me that."
Oh Merlin, did I really just say that out loud?
It was then that I noticed our argument had attracted an audience consisting of more than just Harry and Ginny. From first year to last, many fellow Gryffindors paid attention to not only what I just said, but also what I was going to say next.
"I…I just meant that I like it when you call me Ronald."
"Well, why wouldn't you? It is your name."
"Yeah, but…." I shrugged, not really sure how to answer. Hermione seemed to calm down a lot more after that and the room got really quite. I could have sworn I saw her sneak a glance at the parchment in my hand.
Someone besides me cleared their throat loudly, obviously wanting a break from the awkward silence. But I knew it was Harry.
Before I could register what was happening, Hermione had snatched the parchment out of my hand. She hadn't even looked at it before she said, "I'll have it back to you by tomorrow morning."
I hadn't even had a chance to nod my head in response before she turned and walked straight out through the portrait hole.
So I don't know why, but the names of the tests aren't completely showing up... But you know what I mean. Short but hopefully some of you thought it was sweet. Thanks for =reading! Reviews are always appreciated!
