I was never one to believe the hype. ~ Fun.
The brothers had left him alone for one minute...tops.
But those 60 seconds had been long enough for Cas to find himself cornered on the sidewalk, surrounded by a group of three little girls with matching green outfits and bouncing ponytails.
"Hi, Sir..." the freckled-face girl greeted, grinning up at him. "Can we interest you in some cookies today?"
"They're reeeally good," the blonde girl added, further trying to entice Cas by lifting up a box of the cookies; her small hand running along the edges of the packaging as if she was displaying a prize on a game show.
"Would you like a sample?" the petite brunette asked politely, offering Cas a selection of varied cookies carefully placed on colorful napkins and arranged on the plastic tray she held.
Cas blinked at them, thoroughly confused.
Why would children be peddling cookies on the street in matching outfits?
Were they members of a cult, sent out by their parents to tempt potential new members with their baked goods – the stench of deceit and deception cleverly masked by the sweet aroma of a popular dessert?
Cas tilted his head as he stared at the little girls and their boxes of cookies.
The little girls blinked back at him.
