Gwen buried her face in her hands. She couldn't do this. Why did she think she could do this? A sob escaped her lips.
She loved Arthur, more than anything in the entire world. He was her soul mate, her true love.
Their love had been through so much, and it had survived. She had thought the hardest part was over.
But she was wrong, so wrong.
She hated this, the waiting..
She didn't know if Arthur was alive… where he was… what troubles he was facing.
She loved Arthur, because he was so selfless, always putting the kingdom before anything else.
But at the same time, she hated it. Why was someone else's life worth more than his own? He was so careless sometimes, and it broke Gwen's heart.
She missed him, the sound of his voice, his touch. Gwen spent her days, roaming the castle alone. Being the wife of a King was nothing like she had imagined.
She worried for him constantly, the feeling of bricks in her stomach never leaving. She always feared that she would receive news that he passed in battle, or he would be captured, or some other forsaken thing had happened.
But she loved Arthur, and would stand by him. She would suffer, but only because she knew their love was true.
One day, the two would be able to live peacefully in the kingdom of Camelot, but until Morgana was defeated, it would never happen.
Gwen frowned, staring out the window.
Being the wife of a king was tough, but it was worth it. As soon as she saw Arthur's face, it would all be worth it.
"I love you," she whispered, staring up at the moon. She knew somewhere, wherever he was, Arthur was doing the same.
