Chapter 76

Years later…

Harry stood up from the chair as the woman finished the last of her work. "Glad I don't need to do that every day," he said with a wide smile.

The woman just rolled her eyes. "They're ready for you, just go through that door and hang a left."

"Alright, thanks," he replied, heading in the direction she had pointed.

He walked down the brightly lit hallway, looking at each picture on the wall in turn; there was a lot of history here, he thought.

Opening the door at the end of the hall, he smiled when he saw who was waiting inside. "Jeff! Good to see you!" he said sticking out his hand as he crossed the soundstage to sit opposite a man he had admired then later raced against for years, Jeff Gordon.

"Harry, nice to see you too," he replied taking his hand. "The girls wanted me to thank you for the horse… personally I wanted to punch you in the mouth."

Harry smirked. "Hey I couldn't be outdone by Burton when he had those two ponies given to you in Texas at your last race there. I had to do something bigger for the little angels!"

"Just you wait," Jeff said back in jest. "I've got my eye on something that will make your little one just as happy… but it will need to be when he is a little older than two."

Harry looked him in mock horror. "How much were those stable fees again? Maybe we can work something out?"

"Chicken!" he said with a chuckle.

"You bet!" Harry laughed. "We've barely gotten moved into the new place, I don't want anything destroyed before I get a chance to spend more time there." He smiled. "Seriously though… If I'd known they-"

"It's fine Harry," Jeff said, leaning back and trying to get comfortable for the interview. "Ingrid loves it. She and the girls are spending a lot of time riding together, and there is plenty of space."

Harry nodded. "Good, I always believed every woman should be able to ride a horse… at least that what my grandfather always told me."

Jeff chuckled. "You believe everyone should be able to drive a Mustang."

"That does sound more like me!" he agreed, rubbing his chin in a thoughtful manner as he settled into the seat.

"Ready?" Jeff asked.

"As I'll ever be," Harry said with a shrug.

"So Harry, how does it feel to be the Sprint Champion for the third time?" Jeff asked as his first question.

Harry shook the man's hand again after their makeup had been removed and headed towards the door where his press agent was waiting. "Okay that's it for today Harry, you can head out," said the dark haired girl standing next to Pansy.

Harry finished fishing the microphone power pack from his pocket and handed it to the tech next to the door. "Thanks… and you'll send us a copy, and one to Volk Oil, for their archives?" he said to the young man.

"Yes," he said. "We're planning on airing most of the interview during the Pre-race for Daytona next month; the rest is for different bumpers."

Harry nodded. "Good. Have a good night," he said as the pair walked out towards the parking lot.

"Can I go home now?" he asked with a exaggerated whine, once they were out of earshot.

"Not yet," Pansy said with a smirk, as she flipped through his appointments on her phone. "We have one more stop to make then we can go back to the compound."

Harry gave her a disgusted look as he sank into his mustang's seat and buckled up. "Great…" he groused. "Let me guess, a smile and nod function?"

"Mmmmm…" she said, as she followed suit. "I would expect it's something like that."

"Pansy!" he said dejectedly. "It's Jay's birthday! And Ann is coming home for it!" he said. "I wanted to be there when she got home from college! I still can't believe Mom and Dad agreed to let her go to Berkeley! We never see her unless we are on the western part of the circuit!"

Pansy smirked at him again. "Then you best get a move on, she'll be landing in less than an hour, and you're supposed to pick her up. Luna was going to but she thought you'd rather do it if you were done in time, and I just sent her a text saying you were done."

His eyes widened and his face broke out in a grin. "Why didn't you just say so! Let's go get my baby sister!"

THE END!

And Thank You to all of you that have accompanied me on this long journey.

I chose to end 'Have Chrome Will Travel' as I have to leave it purposely open ended, both in story and ships, in case I wish to revisit this group (A definite possibility, though not for a while) as this would allow me to explore ether the time post fourth year, or even post epilogue depending on how I feel the story needs to be told.

Hope that you have enjoyed visiting this world and choose to try one of my others!

Thank You again!
