Ritsu lay in his bed, staring up at the ceiling. He didn't manage to sleep at all the night before, even though he was feeling really tired. The clock's light blinked on and off indicating the time. It was still early, only around 7 in the morning. The teen turned over to his side and curled himself into a ball. He squeezed his eyes shut tightly, in a last attempt to make himself fall asleep. After lying there for less than five minutes, he gave up.
He forced himself to sit up on his bed, his feet dangling off the edge of the bed. The sunlight's rays barely penetrated through his thin white bedroom curtains. Maybe it was just like him. Not yet ready for another day of life.
What was the cause of him being like this you ask? All but because of this one person. Saga Masamune.
Even thinking of the name already made his stomach fill with butterflies. He then remembered what he had happened the day before. He had heard some stuff which he did not want to believe, but was forced to. Misaki had come running up to him, after school, to tell him the news he had heard in the library.
Apparently, Misaki had overheard Saga and Suzumine talking about him in the library. Ritsu almost didn't believe him because Misaki hardly ever stepped foot in the library, but he gave in in the end.
Misaki was near the Japanese History section looking for a book to help him with his school work. Just as he was about to leave, he heard a loud bang followed by some shouting. He didn't dare move, in case it was a fight happening, but then he had to leave right? He peeped through the books, and saw Suzumine on top of Saga. He didn't manage to hear most of the conversation as he was too far away but he managed to hear that Ritsu had apparently stolen both Shiroyuki and Saga away from the blond. And that he was pissed.
The brunette was shocked when he heard that Saga loved him to that extent. But what was most surprising about the whole thing was that Misaki seemed okay with him being gay and liking guys.
"But… that means I'm a homo, you know."
"I know that. But it doesn't really matter does it? You're still Ritsu. The same plain guy as always."
"P-plain?" Ritsu kept quiet for a moment. "I thought you might not want to be friends with me anymore if you found out about this."
"Nope. Actually I'm pretty hurt that you think I'm that sort of guy."
"But aren't you?" Ritsu asked innocently.
"You…" Misaki sighed. "Even though I don't look it, I still have feelings you know."
"It's alright. Besides, it's also not something you can just tell anyone, right?"
"Yeah." Ritsu breathed a sigh of relief. He was glad that his friend didn't freak out.
"Well, I kind of know how you feel and stuff…"
"WHAT?! You're a homo too?!" Ritsu screamed.
"Shh… Not so loud… Yeah, I am. But the guy I'm in love with is in love with my brother." He blushed and looked away.
"Oh… I'm sorry…"
"Nah, it's not your fault. You don't have to apologize." Misaki smiled but it was forced.
They were both silent after that, both the teens not sure what to say.
In the end, he had told Misaki everything. Even about why he had been so distracted at the arcade. Misaki did not say a single word until he had finished talking. He had given him a piece of advice : to follow his heart.
But he didn't know what is heart wanted. Did he want to still be hung up on Shiroyuki? Or did he want to find someone else new? Like maybe Masamune. He still doesn't know until now. All this thinking was making his head hurt.
He let out a frustrated sigh. He was tired, frustrated, confused, exhausted, and most of all, hungry. His stomach growled loudly at the thought of tamagoyaki for breakfast.
Ritsu got up, dragging himself out of bed, and out his room in hopes of finding nourishment.
Why am I here again? He asked himself repeated again and again as he stared up at the shopping mall looming in front of him. He gulped audibly. He knew that it wasn't a dangerous place, or that there were dangerous people, but he was scared to face just that one person.
*flashback to 1 week ago*
"Please tutor me, senpai!" Ritsu begged Saga.
"Why? I don't do things for free you know."
"Come on. If I fail the next English test again, I'll have to attend after school classes."
"If your English is that bad, then wouldn't it be good for you to attend the classes?"
"Please, Saga-senpai. I'll do anything you want so…"
"Then become my boyfriend." He smirked.
Saga chuckled. He loved to tease the boy. "Don't take it too seriously. I'm just joking. Go out on a date with me."
"Yup. If you don't want to, then you'll have to study English yourself."
He knew very well what Ritsu's answer would be.
"Fine. I'll go on a d-date with you…"
*end of flashback*
And here he is now.
Why did he have to say yes? He had nearly forgotten about it until Saga had messaged him to ask him if he was there yet. He was still preparing breakfast then, and was confused at what was happening. Then he remembered. Shrieking in horror, he ran upstairs, got changed and was out the door in less than five minutes.
Not bothering to make sure he had everything he needed, he ran all the way there. Only halfway, did he realize that he had forgotten to take his wallet with him. But it was too late to turn back now. By the time he reached the mall, he was practically soaked in sweat. Everyone was staring at him as he bent over catching his breath. At least he thought they were.
Not seeing Saga anywhere in sight, he dialed the older guy's number.
Suddenly, he heard a voice behind him.
