Chapter Forty-Seven

(Songs in this chapter are "You are Not Alone" by Michael Jackson, "All Because of You" and "Written in the Stars" by Blackmore's Night.)

When Tulio entered the building he found himself in an auditorium that was packed. Right as he began searching for her, he heard a voice say, "Next to perform is Aralyne Chanson." His head shot up towards the stage and watched her sing. She looked lost and alone, and when she started crying, he wanted to run up and hold her in his arms. When she had left the stage and disappeared, he quickly ran up, before the next act and took the microphone from the stand.

"Hey!" a girl protested when she saw him in her place, "I'm next."

"Just please let me do this," he begged, "It's important!" The girl was surprised then nodded her consent. "Thank you!" He then spoke into the mike, "This song is for Aralyne." And he began singing:

"Another day has gone

I'm still all alone

How could this be

You're not here with me

You never said goodbye

Someone tell me why

Did you have to go

And leave my world so cold"

When I heard a male voice say, "This song is for Aralyne," then start singing, I walked to the edge of the wings to see a man on stage who seemed familiar.

"Every day I sit and ask myself

How did love slip away

Something whispers in my ear and says

That you are not alone

I am here with you

Though you're far away

I am here to stay

But you are not alone

I am here with you

Though we're far apart

You're always in my heart

But you are not alone

'Lone, 'lone

Why, 'lone"

He was staring directly at me with his blue eyes, making my heart skip a beat. I was pretty sure I had never seen him before in my life, yet a part of me felt as if I knew him.

"Just the other night

I thought I heard you cry

Asking me to come

And hold you in my arms

I can hear your prayers

Your burdens I will bear

But first I need your hand

Then forever can begin"

Slowly, I walked out onto the stage and stood beside him, my head tilted in confusion. Who was he, and why was he singing this song to me?

"Every day I sit and ask myself

How did love slip away

Something whispers in my ear and says

That you are not alone

I am here with you

Though you're far away

I am here to stay

You are not alone

I am here with you

Though we're far apart

You're always in my heart

You are not alone

Whisper three words and I'll come runnin'

And girl you know that I'll be there

I'll be there

You are not alone

I am here with you

Though you're far away

I am here to stay

You are not alone

I am here with you

Though we're far apart

You're always in my heart"

I was vaguely aware of the audience singing along at this point, but ignored it. My mind just could not process who this man was.

"You are not alone

(You are not alone)

I am here with you

(I am here with you

You and me)

Though you're far away

(Though you're far away)

I am here to stay

You are not alone

(You are always in my heart)

I am here with you

Though we're far apart

You're always in my heart"

The man must have noticed the expression on my face, because he frowned slightly and reached out placing a hand on my cheek. My eyes widened and I suddenly gasped as I realized who he was, and all of the memories came rushing back. Tulio! I began crying fresh tears, as I clapped a hand over my mouth. He smiled, pulling his hand away, and concluded the song.

"For you are not alone...

Not alone ohh

You are not alone

You are not alone

Say it again

You are not alone

You are not alone

Not alone, not alone

If you just reach out for me girl

In the morning, in the evening

Not alone, not alone

You and me not alone

Oh together together

Just stop being alone

Just stop being alone"

"Tulio," I said quietly removing my hand from my mouth, "You're here, but how?"

Grabbing my hand, he pulled me off stage into the wings as another girl went out to sing:

"Is this happening?

(Is this happening?

Is this happening?)

Is this fantasy?

(Is this fantasy?

Is this fantasy?)

Never did I believe

There could be such happiness

Feels like nothing on earth

Started with one little kiss…"

When we were alone, he showed me a ring on his finger. "This helped me get here," he said, "Grandpa gave it to me. He said that the witches and fairies have been working on it for centuries and have just completed it." Tulio then pulled a smaller identical ring out of his pocket and slipped it onto my finger. "This one is for you."

"I could stay in this moment forever

I could reach every star in the sky

I could lose myself when I look

Into your eyes…

Is this happening? Is this fantasy?

All my dreams coming true…

all because of you

I can't believe it's true…

all because of you….

You are everything I

Wanted for so many years…

Goodbye long, lonely nights

Sadness and thousands of tears"

"So I can go between worlds if I want to?" I inquired, hope sprouting inside of me.

He nodded then said, "You swore that you would never leave me, so why did you go?"

"Tulio, this is my home! I belong here!" I protested, but at the same time feeling guilty that I had broken my promise.

Shaking his head, he added, "It doesn't matter, because we can stay together, now." He pulled me close, and we kissed.

"I could stay in this moment forever

I could reach every star in the sky

I could lose myself when I look

Into your eyes…

Is this happening? Is this fantasy?

All my dreams coming true… All because of you

I can't believe it's true… all because of you…

Is this happening? Is this fantasy?

All my dreams coming true… All because of you

I can't believe it's true… all because of you…

All because of you…

All because of you…

All because of you…"

As soon as Siren had left Aralyne's body, she ended up inhabiting another. Someone who was weaker, this time. Using Melody as a puppet, she travelled back to Thesaurum Insula. Once there, she had regained Triton's trident that she had kept hidden, and using her own bit of magic, she produced the Queen of Hearts' dead body. With the trident, she changed the body into a more pleasing form: an exact replica of Aralyne's, but with long hair and crimson eyes. Leaving Melody, Siren entered the new body, which was entirely hers.

Melody stood off to the side still holding the trident, looking confused, not knowing where she was or how she got there.

"Aralyne?" she said spotting the doppelgänger, "Where are we? What's going on?"

"I'm not Aralyne," Siren snarled, as she snatched the trident from Melody. In one swift movement, she stabbed the half-mermaid, and Melody fell over dead. With an evil laugh, Siren then went out in search of the villains that had disappeared when the Horned King died. With him now out of the way, she could start taking over Incantationen and planning revenge on Aralyne….

"Once written in the stars

A pathway set in stone

A candle in the night

To guide your way back home

Then somewhere in your memory…

Calling from a far…

It's daring you to see what it is

That's written in the stars…

Once written in the stars

A pathway set in stone

A candle in the night

To guide your way back home

Then somewhere in your memory…

Calling from a far…

It's daring you to see what it is

That's written in the stars…

You said that you would stay

And that you'd never leave

I gave you all I had…

When I chose to believe…

Love like magic casts a spell

Sometimes leaving scars

I guess it's just as well not to know

What's written in the stars

Still written in the stars

And written in your eyes

The prophecy fulfills

The dream that never dies

A shooting star lights up the night

While the earth stands still

And somehow we lose sight

While following what's written in the stars…

I want to know what's written in the stars…

Please tell me what is written in the stars…"
