The One With the Pick-Up Lines

AN – There's only Joey and Phoebe in this one, and they don't know each other yet. This is another one of my poor attempts on making a couple of lines into an entire story. What can I say? I need a more interesting life to write about, or I need to get a more creative imagination. Thus this is pretty short, so you have been warned.

Acknowledgements: I'd like to thank Jeff & Jay for hitting on me. Really though, you guys totally make me laugh and I do thank you for that.

Phoebe was about to grab a coffee at Central Perk when she noticed a cute guy out in front. As she approached the door she would hear him shamelessly flirting with every woman that walked in. "How you doin'?" the man said to a group of ladies before her. The women giggled and continued on through and the man just smiled to himself.

Phoebe rolled her eyes thinking, "Oh please, I can't believe they're falling for that. Well, there's no way he's going to win me over." Phoebe walked up to the door and prepared herself to be hit on. Sure enough, the man looked her up and down and used his line on her. The next thing she knew she was giggling too and continued to walk on in. "Oh my gosh, I can't believe I just did that," Phoebe thought to herself.

Phoebe decided she was going to brush the whole incident off and just order her coffee. As she waited at the counter, the man from outside approached her. "Hi I'm Joey," the man said.

"Phoebe," she replied.

"I'm sorry, I'm new here and I'm kinda lost. Do you think you can help me?"

"Yeah, sure, what do you need?"

"Well, I was wondering, are we in Tennessee? Because baby, you're the only ten I see." Joey said with a flash in his eyes.

"Oh my gosh," said Phoebe laughing, "You are so lame."

"Yeah, but I got you laughing with me."

"How do you know I'm not just laughing at you?" Phoebe said teasingly.

"Because if you were truly repulsed by me you never would have walked through that door."

Phoebe just smiled shyly at his response. "That's true," she thought to herself. She couldn't believe she was actually attracted to this guy.

"That's what I thought. So why don't we go see a movie? Come on," Joey said motioning her to follow him out the door.

"Right now?"

"Yeah, why not?"

"What about my coffee?"

"Well, get it and let's go."

Phoebe looked after him curiously. She grabbed her coffee and paid for it, not believing she was actually going along with this shenanigan.

Joey and Phoebe sat in the dark theater talking while they waited for the movie to start. Changing the subject, Joey said, "Did you know that the distance from here (touching Phoebe's closest shoulder) to here (touching Phoebe's neck) is the same as the distance from here (touching Phoebe's neck again) to here (touching Phoebe's further shoulder so that now he has his arm around him)?"

"You never stop, do you?" Phoebe giggled.

"I've got a million of them, but you're the only one I want to use them on," Joey said sincerely.

Phoebe giggled again as she and Joey leaned in for a sweet kiss. Phoebe knew it was just another line, but she also noticed there was honest sincerity behind that one. Just as they broke, the movie started and Joey still had his arm around Phoebe's shoulder. She sat back and sighed. She rested her head on Joey's shoulder thinking, "He may be a guy with lame pick-up lines, but he's a cute guy with lame pick up lines. I couldn't choose anyone better."
