Well this is my first Arrow story. If you want a prequel story review this story and tell me or you can write one yourself (just let me know so I can read it please).

Disclaimer unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I do not own Arrow.

Oliver heard the sound of a gun going off behind him and froze for a second, fully expecting to feel the burning sensation of a bullet hitting his back. When he didn't he turned around and saw Detective Quinton Lance standing there. He started to fall forward and Oliver caught him. As he held Quinton in his arms he noticed that Quinton's chest right above his bulletproof vest was covered in blood. "I'll go get help," Oliver said. He started to get up but Quinton's hand on his arm stops him. "Queen I want you to promise me something " Quinton said in a weak voice. Oliver's eyes widened in surprise when Quinton used his name. "I guess I shouldn't be surprised" Oliver thought. "What?" Oliver asked aloud. "I want you to promise me to protect and take care of Laurel for me" Quinton answered. "I promise" Oliver said. Quinton sighed; his eyes closed and the hand that was holding Oliver's arm fell. Oliver stayed frozen where he was holding Quinton's body until he heard footsteps heading his way. He gently laid Quinton's body on the cold cement then he ran.

...

Detective Lucas Hilton saw the vigilante lay down the body he was holding and run. Lucas started running after him but stopped when saw the body the vigilante had lain down. It was his partner Quinton Lance. Lucas turned to the officers behind him. "Go after him' he ordered. The officers quickly did what they were ordered. Lucas knelt beside Quinton's body. As a police officer he knew that there was going to be a time when he, Quinton or any of his other fellow officers wouldn't come back but he hadn't expected tonight to be Quinton's time. Of course you never do. As he knelt beside his partner he thought of all the things he and Quinton had been through, all the criminals they had put away and all the death they had seen. He also thought of the two things he had helped Quinton through, the death of Sara and his wife leaving him. As he thought about those two things another thought popped into his head, Laurel. He should be the one to tell her. He heard the other officers coming back. "The vigilante got away sir," one of them said. Lucas nodded he had expected that he would get away. He always did. Lucas stood up "call it in" said he said.

Laurel was getting ready for work when she heard a knock on the door of her apartment. She opened the door and standing in the hall was her Father's partner Lucas Hilton. "Hello Lucas" Laurel said confused for a minute about why he was there. That minute was over in a flash and she realized there could be only one reason why her Father's partner would be knocking on her apartment door so early in the morning without her Father. "Laurel I have some bad news can I come in please?" Lucas asked. "Sure" Laurel said opening the door wider so he can come in. As Lucas walked into her apartment and Laurel closed the door her heart began to beat faster. "Laurel there's no easy way to say what I've come here to say so I'm just going to say it. Last night about nine o'clock your Father was shot and killed in the line of duty" Lucas said. Laurel stood there for moment tears threatening to spill from her eyes. Eventually they couldn't be held back any longer. Even though she knew that the only reason Lucas would have shown up at her apartment without her Father is because her Dad was dead and even though she had known since she was old enough to understand the risk of being police officer that there was a possibility that some day he wouldn't come home she was still unprepared for it to happen now. Lucas stepped forward, wrapped his arms around her and held her as she cried.

...

As Laurel watched as her father's casket lowered into the freshly dug grave she felt numb. She still couldn't believe that he was gone. "I didn't even get to say goodbye" she thought as a tear escaped from her eye and ran down her cheek. As people left the funeral they all told her how sorry they were for her lost and what a great policeman he was and she just nod her head and thanked them for their sympathy. Finally only she and one other person were left.

...

Oliver walked up to Laurel not sure what to say. He wished he could tell her what happened and that he was grateful to her father for saving his life but now didn't feel like the right time to reveal that he is the vigilante so he just stood there in silence. "I'm sorry Laurel," he said at last. Laurel smiled sadly at him. "I'm glad you came it means a lot to me that you are here even though you two didn't really get along" she said and looked back at her father's grave. "I thought I was prepared for this day but it turns out I wasn't prepared at all" Laurel said as tears began to fall down her cheek. Oliver pulled her into his arms and held her. They stayed that way until Laurel gently pushed him away "Thank you Ollie" she said. Then she started to walk away. Oliver looked at Quinton's grave and Quinton's last words came back to him "I want you to promise me to protect and take care of Laurel for me." "Don't worry Mr. Lance I will keep my promise" Oliver thought. He took off running after Laurel. "Hey Laurel I don't think you should be alone. How about you stay at the mansion for a few days" Oliver said when he caught up to her. Laurel smiled at him "I would like that thank you." As they walked to Oliver's limo a breeze blew from Quinton's grave toward them and when it reached them Oliver could have sworn he heard the words "Thank you" whispered in his ear.

If you think the last part with the breeze is stupid tell me and I will delete it. I would like to thank all those who have reviewed, followed and Favorited. You guys are awesome.
