THE NOT-SO-SUBTLETIES OF SEVERUS SNAPE
Severus Snape glanced at his apprentice of a year and a half with wary eyes. In between the bouts of intense concentration that Severus demanded, the young man had been moaning incessantly about the all-important her. She was so smart, she was so sweet, she had a slamming body, and wasn't she amazing for forgiving him? Draco Bloody Fucking Malfoy was desperate to get into the good graces—and knickers—of Hermione Granger. Severus was about ready to strangle him. He had been whinging and mooning over her for nearly two weeks, and it was getting on his last nerve.
Draco Malfoy was going to marry Hermione Granger. He had never been so certain of anything in his life. It didn't matter how long it took him to convince her; he just couldn't settle for anyone else. He knew he was driving Severus spare with his rhapsodizing, but he just couldn't help it. She was utterly enchanting and he was a monumental idiot for not realizing it earlier. His peers might find it odd; it didn't matter. Draco was in love, and she was clearly interested; she often dropped in to say hello while he worked in the potions lab.
Severus rapped his stirring rod against his Standard Size Eight with a sharp, irritated motion. If his apprentice didn't stop humming soon, he was going to hex him. He had been trying so hard to just leave it, but it was getting harder and harder by the day. The young, rich, charismatic man was convinced he was going to talk Hermione Granger into marriage. Severus hated to admit it, but he was slightly… concerned. What if he did? She had been so very reticent about, well, everything. What if Draco Malfoy was the reason why? It could not be borne.
Draco walked down the hall with a slight bounce in his step. He had nearly finished for the day; he had just dropped off his latest round of potions to the hospital wing. Now all he had to do was clean up for the day and hunt down the lovely spells apprentice. An invitation to dinner, maybe even to trip the light fantastic—surely a sweet and innocent woman like Hermione would find that appealing! Whistling, he opened the door to the lab, and stopped short, eyes wide. Severus Snape was…with his Hermione… that was Draco's bloody counter space, too!
