"Give the poor girl some air!" Madame Pomfrey cried out as she began to attend to Hermione. Severus burst into the room as a group of students, already in infirmary jumped back at the nurses' command.

"How is she? Is she injured?" Severus asked as he approached the bed. He looked down at Hermione who lay sprawled and unconscious on the top sheets of the bed. Every bit of exposed skin was smeared with dirt and small cuts encrusted with dried blood. Her clothes were tattered and her feet were shoeless. He cringed as he noticed her skin contained a blue tint to it.

"For Merlins sake Severus, I've only just begun!" Madame Pomfrey shook her head, and turned her attention to her patient. "You can wait anywhere but here, I will call you when I finish." With a flick of her wand privacy dividers appeared and forced Severus to take a giant step back away from the bed.

"Severus!" Minerva called out as she rushed towards the pacing man. "How is she?"

"Madame Pomfrey is attending to her now, she is unconscious." Severus replied but did not slow down his pace. Neville was standing off to the side his head down, shuffling one of his feet. Severus stopped pacing and came up on him in a flash.

"How did you find her?" Severus narrowed his eyes. "And do not lie to me."

"I…I tried to remember some of the places Ron has talked about and.." Neville paused and ran his hands through his hair. "Severus, I didn't think he'd take her like that, honest, I thought he just wanted to talk to her."

"Explain yourself." Severus took a step closer to Neville, his voice deeper that it had been.

"I…I mean he asked me about her and I told him, and I…"Neville stammered.

"Do you mean to tell me you aided Weasley in abducting Hermione?" Minerva cried out in astonishment.

"Yes." Neville hung his head. "I'm sorry, really. I didn't know…"

For a brief moment, Severus stood there, staring at Neville. Neville looked up slowly at his former potions master, anticipating a verbal assault. What he didn't expect was what happened next. Severus hit him; all he saw was a fist coming at his face and the next thing anyone knew Neville was sprawled out across the floor. Blood was oozing from his obviously broken nose.

"Severus! We are not savages! We do not strike fellow professors!" Minerva exclaimed.

"Do not lecture me. He's lucky that's all I did. There is nothing to say I am done with him yet." Severus turned and walked past Minerva back near the privacy barriers that separated him from Hermione, and he began to pace once more. Madame Pomfrey came out from behind the privacy barriers and walked up to Severus and Minerva, her eyes darted down to the bleeding Neville laid sprawled across the floor.

"What happened?" Madame Pomfrey exclaimed as she hiked up her long skirt to rush over to him. Minerva caught hold of her at the elbow causing her to turn abruptly.

"How is Miss Granger?" Minerva motioned towards where Hermione lay with her eyes.

"Physically she is fine, she does need to rest. I fear she has had a shock and seems a bit far off at the moment, but I expect her to be fine soon." Madame Pomfrey answered and turned her attention back to Neville.

"May we see her now?" Minerva asked

"Merlins beard!" Severus was growing impatient and started to walk towards the privacy barrier before being given permission from the mediwitch. He moved around the barrier and saw Hermione lying beneath the thin blanket staring off away from his direction. "Hermione?"

Her turned to look at him as he walked over to her. Minerva had passed the barrier and was standing silently. Hermione cried out as she sat up, the blanket falling to the wayside. She was in nothing more than her undergarments as she sobbed reaching out for Severus. He pulled her into an embrace, casting part of his robe over her to protect her modesty. She cried into his chest, and he attempted to comfort her.

"You're safe now." He smoothed her hair.

"It was Ron, Ron took me…"Hermione sobbed, her words came out in bursts. "He held me prisoner in an old house…"

Severus' face grew dark, he turned to speak to Minerva who was no longer there.
