Hey guys, I know it's been awhile. I just turned this plot around completely. I had technically almost finished this story, but then realized that my original plan was stupid and unrealistic. I hope you guys don't hate me too much. I have only a couple chapters more (maybe not even) to this story plus the epilogue so I hope you guys can stick with me through to the end.

I am so sorry…

Disclaimer: You do not want me to own these characters. It would be bad news.

Katniss walked until her feet couldn't support her, and crumpled against the pavement in grief. How had everything gone so wrong?

A figure walked towards her, shrouded in the shadow of the cloudy sky.

She didn't even have a chance to flinch before she felt a jab in the side of her neck, and the world went black.

When she woke, it was still dark.

Fear paralyzed her as she realized that a blindfold had been placed over her eyes, obstructing her vision. She knew exactly what was happening.

She tried to feel around her surroundings, but a hand grabbed her wrist roughly, forcing her up against a wall.

"You try anything and I'll kill you Bitch."

Brian pulled off the blindfold, and her grey eyes went hard.

She glared at him defiantly, wanting nothing more than to spit in his face. He was so close that she could smell him, alcohol seeping through his skin.

He disgusted her.

She struggled against his grip and he responded with a harsh squeeze. He sneered, grabbing her jaw to force her eyes towards his.

"I don't think you heard me right," he spat. "I am the one in charge here."

Brian finally released her arms and she slumped to the floor in defeat.

The last time she'd been taken she had a reason to live, but this time, she struggled to find light in the darkness.

Peeta was dead, her old life was gone. She had nothing to go back to anymore.

Soon, she would be nothing more than a tragic kidnapping case left unsolved.

Maybe she should just give up.

Suddenly, a whimper broke through the silence, and Katniss was alerted to another presence in the room.

She looked around the dusty floorboards, finding a crumpled figure in the corner. It was a girl, a few years younger than her, with shiny blonde hair now caked with blood.

Her heart throbbed in her chest.

This was not a situation she'd been expecting.

This girl was just like her, young, and scared. She couldn't allow the things that had been done to her happen to this girl.

She was small, and frail, too damn young to be living in a world like this. It just wasn't fair.

Suddenly, a kind of strength and protectiveness took over, and she knew she had to save her.

She'd escaped once before, and she would do it again. This time she would fight harder.

Agent Olivia Banner roamed the streets, searching for a once lost and found kidnapping victim. Anger pulsed in her veins, and she knew she would stop at nothing to kill the man responsible for her partner's death.

Not to mention the damage done to the boy currently lying in a drug-induced coma at Boston General.

She hated Brian Snow for everything that he had taken from her, from Katniss, from Peeta, and from his new victim. He was insane, and dangerous; she didn't know how he'd stayed off the radar for so long.

Olivia returned to the Federal building, determined to find a lead. She no longer had a doubt that he had taken Katniss again, it had all been too convenient after all.

Snow had fled the scene hardly a second after he'd fired the shots. He was gone before she could even think about catching him. He somehow knew her weaknesses although he'd never met her before, and was able to snatch Katniss while she'd been mourning her partner. He'd known exactly what she would do and he used that to his advantage.

It was more than a coincidence, more than a spontaneous act of fear. No, Snow had known how it would play out from the beginning. There was no doubting that the man was a genius. He'd fired those shots with a purpose, and she'd let him pull her strings.

He toyed with emotions and got people to do as he commanded without their knowing. He was always a step ahead, all knowing and insane with bloodlust. He could manipulate every chess piece so carefully, that it might just seem like they'd had a chance.

They hadn't even had a sliver of a chance.

Olivia ran him through the database, searching for even a hint at where he might be, but his name came up with hardly a trace.

All she could find was a small recount of his past, with no criminal activity. He almost wouldn't have had a file, if it wasn't for the strange case of his wife and stepdaughter's deaths.

They'd driven off a bridge, seemingly by accident. Now, Olivia wasn't sure it had been an accident at all.

Perhaps Brian Snow had more history than they'd ever imagined.

He really seemed like a pretty regular guy.

Before Katniss's escape, he'd lived a regular life, with a regular job, and no one thought anything of it. It only made her wonder how many people weren't what they seemed.

"Agent Banner," another agent called out. "I think you'll want to see this."

Olivia stood up, obviously intrigued. At this point, she would take any information, no matter how small.

"We have a reported disturbance in an apartment on Quincy." the agent paused. "Normally this wouldn't mean much, but I looked it up and the apartment has been abandoned for years. The original owner died and nobody has even bothered to check it out."

Quincy street... Not far from the apartment that Brian had been staying in before. It seemed almost too obvious.

"Also, a lady from the complex reported that a man matching Snow's description was in the hallways today. She's not sure he's staying there though."

"Thank you Agent White." Olivia forced a smile at the young agent. This was something she could work with.

"But Olivia,"

She stopped in her tracks, looking back.

"Captain Philips wants to take you off the case."

Agent White swallowed. "He's afraid that it's too emotional for you."

Olivia clenched her jaw, upset. "What? Does he think I'm unstable? That I can't handle it?"

"I'm sure that's not the case Agent Banner, he's just looking out for you."

Olivia let out a breathy laugh. "Well, I can take care of myself."

With that, she walked out, a gun ready in her holster.

She was going to avenge her partner's death.

Katniss approached the blonde girl cautiously, stopping to sit beside her.

"I'm sorry," the girl blurted out, her voice little more than a scratchy whisper. "I'm sorry he caught you again."

Katniss shrugged. "It's not your fault."

It wasn't anyone's fault but her own. She should have been rational, instead of impulsive. She left to wander the streets alone while her own kidnapper was on the loose. That certainly wasn't a smart move.

"I'm Prim," the girl said, forcing a sad smile.

"Katniss," she replied.

"I know..."

"Don't worry Prim, I'm gonna get us out of here."

Suddenly, the door flew open, and Brian's lurching form came towards them.

"I told you not to move." he said firmly, approaching Katniss. "I haven't forgiven you just yet sweetheart."

His hand cupped her cheek and she slapped it away, glaring. His face reddened and he pulled her off the floor, pushing her into the wall.

"You are mine, don't forget."

"I don't belong to anyone."

He slapped her hard across the face, his cold hands slowly trailing down to the waistband of her jeans. "You belong to me darling, whether you like it or not."

She tried to fight and he kicked her down. All she could see was red.

She prayed that God would have mercy on them.
