Author's Note, 5/9/2013
I know I've been a little AWOL lately, so I wanted to drop by and tell y'all what's been going on.
Just in case you didn't know, I'm a college student, and over the past three weeks, I've been studying for and taking finals, finishing projects, and packing up everything in my dorm to move home. I was so busy that I barely had time to breathe, much less write an update, but when I moved home a couple of days ago, I was so ready to get the next chapter written and published and really kick the story into high gear.
But, of course, there was a problem:
With all the packing and stuff that my roommates and I were doing, a few of our boxes got mixed up, and one of my roommates accidentally took some of my things home- including the box that had my fic binder in it. (Yeah, I'm lame and like to hand write my updates before typing them, because it forces me to really pay attention to my word choice and style, plus I type so fast that when I write updates just on OpenOffice, I make careless mistakes.)
Anyway, so she took this binder, which contained:
chapters I'd already written
the basic, overarching outline for the entire story
rough outlines for the next three chapters
a completed rough draft of chapter three
part of the rough draft of chapter four
character notes and profiles I'd done to help with characterization
several pages of notes on mermaid mythology
So my charming roommate essentially ran off with everything I need to write this story.
BUT HERE'S THE GOOD NEWS:
She and I live in the same city. She is on vacation right now, but when she finally drags herself home from cavorting about at the beach, I will be able to get all my stuff back, and this story will go on. She is supposed to be back Sunday, so expect an update by Monday evening at the latest.
I apologize for how long this update's taking me, and I promise I'll more than make up for it. I just wanted to let you all know that I haven't forgotten about it, and I will finish it. I appreciate all the nice reviews I've gotten so far, and I hope you'll all keep reading.
