Chapter Twenty-Four: Amusing Morning

The next morning, Willow woke up to the feeling of her daughter trying to get out of the bed. Shay was never one to just lay around, waiting on her mother to wake up. She was usually out of bed and down stairs watching cartoons before the redhead so much as opened her eyes.

Groaning, Willow tightened her hold on her daughter and smiled slightly as the little girl continued to struggle to get free. "Mommy!" Shay complained, knowing her mother was awake.

"Morning, Baby," Willow replied, tickling her daughter and causing the little girl to giggle loudly at her mother's actions.

"Mommy, stop!" Shay giggled, trying to get out of her mother's hold.

"Don't wanna," Willow said, before kissing her daughter's forehead.

Shay giggled once more at her mother's response before the door opened and Tara stuck her head in. "H-hey. I m-m-made breakfast if y-you're hu-hungry," she announced, giving them a nervous smile.

"Thanks. We'll be right down," Willow replied, smiling gently at Tara as she released her daughter.

Willow watched Tara walk from the room and frowned slightly at the blonde's strange behavior before climbing from the bed and looking at her daughter. "Ready for breakfast?"

"Uh huh," Shay said, hopping out of bed and almost running towards the door before Willow caught her and started tickling the little girl once again, causing her to squeal. "Mommy!"

"What?" Willow asked, innocently as she pulled her daughter up and started carrying her down the stairs. "I didn't do anything."

"Yes you did!"

"No, I didn't," Willow disagreed, shaking her head at her little girl that was watching her.

"You tickled me!" Shay argued, giving her mother a playful pout.

"I did no such thing," Willow told her, faking a confused look as she continued down the stairs. "Maybe you dreamt it?"

"Did not," Shay said, before attempting to tickle her mother but was stopped when Willow started tickling her instead. "Mommy, stop!"

Willow just smiled and leaned in to kiss her daughter's cheek, ceasing her tickle attack. "I love you, Baby Girl," Willow said, hugging her daughter tightly.

"I love you, too, Mommy," Shay told her, wrapping her arms tightly around her mother's neck and resting her head on her shoulder.

They continued down the last few steps like that and walked into the kitchen to see Buffy at the table already digging into her food. Willow just smiled and lifted an eyebrow at her best friend. "I'm guessing you heard the word 'food' and was instantly wide awake?"

"Shush, you," Buffy grumbled, before stuffing another bite of pancakes in her mouth.

Shay lifted her head at the sound of the slayer's voice and quickly started squirming in her mother's arm in an attempt to get down. As soon as Willow set the little girl on the floor, she rushed over to where the blonde slayer was sitting and wrapped her arms around her waist.

"Good morning, Aunt Buffy."

"Good morning, Kid," Buffy said, hugging the little girl before turning to look at Willow once more. "See, this is how you're suppose to greet people in the mornings."

"I'm sorry. I'll learn to say good morning before I make fun at your eating habits," Willow promised, smiling at the interaction and tilting her head. "Good morning, Pig."

"A-are you t-t-two really g-g-going to act like t-two year o-olds in fr-front of a th-three year o-old?" Tara asked, frowning at the two women's playful banter as Shay giggled at the interaction.

"She started it," Buffy complained, turning to frown at Tara. "Tell your girlfriend to be nice in the mornings!"

Tara just lifted an eyebrow at Buffy's words, not saying anything as she just stared at the slayer, waiting for Buffy to realize why she wasn't responding to her request.

"Alright. Alright. I'll be a grown-up," Buffy mumbled, frowning at the blonde.

Tara just smiled at the Slayer and shook her head. "Shay, want to help me make plates?" Tara asked, feeling a little more comfortable after watching the exchange between the two women.

"Okay!" Shay exclaimed, running over to Tara and wrapping her arms around Tara's legs. "Good morning, Tara!"

Tara smiled at the little girl and knelt down, wrapping her arms around Shay. "Good morning, Sweetie."

They hugged for a few seconds, unaware that both Willow and Buffy were watching them with small smiles on their faces. After a few minutes, Tara pulled back and stood up again, looking over her shoulder at Willow and her breath caught in her throat at the look of pure adoration in Willow's green eyes.

"Um...wh-what do you w-want to eat?" Tara asked, turning bright red as Buffy started choking on her food. "F-for br-breakfast, I m-mean?"

Willow just stood up, hitting Buffy on the back of the head as she walked over to where Tara and Shay were standing. "What did you cook?" Willow wondered, wrapping her arms around Tara's waist as she looked over her shoulder at the kitchen counter.

"B-bacon, e-eggs, and p-p-pancakes," Tara told her, feeling her heart start pounding in her chest as Willow held her close.

"I'll take a little of everything," Willow said, before turning her head to look at Tara. "Can I get a good morning kiss?"

Tara smiled at Willow's soft request and turned her head to press a kiss to Willow's cheek. "Good morning," she whispered, moving out of Willow's arms with a smirk on her lips.

"Tara!" Willow complained, frowning at the blonde.

Tara just smiled and looked down at Shay who was watching her mother and Tara curiously. "Hey, Sweetie. Why don't you run upstairs and wash your hands real quick?"

"Okay," Shay said, frowning at them in confusion before walking from the room and up the stairs to go wash her hands.

As soon as Shay was out of the room, Tara grabbed the front of Willow's nightshirt and pulled the redhead to her, pressing their lips together in a passionate kiss. As the kiss deepened, Willow wrapped her arms around Tara's waist and pulled the blonde closer as she slipped her tongue along Tara's bottom lip.

"Hmm," Tara mumbled, as she opened her mouth to let Willow in, only to be interrupted by the sound of Buffy clearing her throat rather loudly.

"Hate to spoil the moment for you two, but I need to remind you of two things. One, I'm still in the room and do not want to see this. And number two is the fact that I hear Shay walking down the stairs," Buffy pointed out, watching in amusement as the two women jumped apart at the last few words.

A/N: Thank you Gimpy72 for all the help with this story and all my others.

A/N2: I apologize for the long wait for the update. I've had a serious case of writer's block that did not want to go away. It seems like every time it goes away it comes back stronger.
