Prompt: Do you have any pets? Would you like some (more)? Why / why not?

Why, yes, as a matter of fact I do have some pets. Would you like me to tell you about my adorable pets? Trust me, they're cute.

Captain Jean-Luc Picard

My favorite. He's human, male, from the region of Earth called "France", and despite having grown up with family who expected he'd spend his life squashing grapes and letting them rot into a mood-altering chemical, he was absolutely driven to go out and explore space. He also has a magnificent voice. I could listen to him reading the phone book. In fact, since he dictates some occasionally mind-numbingly dull reports to Starfleet, I think I have.

Captain Kathryn Janeway

I picked up Kathy after she accidentally let one of my (1) fellow Q, a philosopher who wanted to kill himself, out of the comet we'd imprisoned him in for his own safety. When I tried to recapture him, and he fought back, she suggested that she could actually rule on a matter of such grave importance to the Continuum. Isn't she cute? I'm entirely too indulgent with her... I actually let her make the ruling, and agreed to let it stand, so we ended up (2) fighting a war over it. Which I won, but that's another story. Kathy's not really my favorite pet, but I do like to turn to her for advice... she's much less likely to try to give me a lecture than Picard.

Aun, space pirate and revolutionary

Aun is the biological daughter of (3) a person I really don't like. Technically, you see, I was forbidden to give any aid to members of her species... but the Borg were annihilating them, and I had come to the world to watch (and eat popcorn), and Aun... barely a baby at the time, only 10 years old, which is rather like a 4 year old human... could see me. (Her name was Raina at the time, but her people change names more often than they change hats. And believe me do they ever change hats.) So I asked her if she wanted me to rescue her from the Borg, and told her that in order to do so she had to renounce her species and declare that she was not her parents' child. She didn't want to die, so she did it, and on that technicality I was able to rescue her and transport her to the Gamma Quadrant, where I had her raised by a pair of anti-Dominion dissidents (who were a tad surprised that it took her 50 years to grow up, unlike the 16 they expected, but hey, that's aliens for you.) Nowadays she's a pirate who fights the Dominion. Every so often I pop in on her to give her some advice... she thinks of me as sort of an uncle.

You can go to this site to see pictures of my pets: qcontinuum dot livejournal dot com slash 34148 dot html (hopefully, if you're intelligent enough to figure out how to translate that back into a hyperlink... which, since you're most likely a human, is debatable.)

So those are my pets. Or at least three of my favorite ones. Adorable, aren't they?

Oh, and don't even get me started on my little ponies! I could be here all century!

Note: Aun is an OC. In the pictures at the link Q so rudely provided, she is represented by the actress Sanaa Lathan. Fanfiction dot net strips hyperlinks, so I couldn't include the pictures directly.
