I can tell that your touch is blinding
Electric touch, I feel you inside me
And I wanna know, just gotta know
Can you light me up when we're alone?
"You surprised me by showing up earlier than expected, Minato." The Hokage said calmly, his fingers crossed under his chin.
Minato's voice was hard, and polite. "We have some news on the leak."
He raised a thin brow, "This could not wait till you finished capture the spy?"
Sakura blinked and struggled to tell the Hokage, she would not play his subordinate in this situation. "The leak is in Konoha."
The Hokage's and Minato's eyes were on her at this moment. She'd be dammed if she started to fidget under their hard gaze, but her shishou taught her better than this. Being one of the very few political leaders that were female, Tsunade had to her hold her own over the testosterone, old fashioned and conniving men.
"What gave you that idea, Sakura?"
"Well, Hokage-sama- a few days ago, I made a poison in my lab and miraculously the poison was in my drink yesterday." She said bluntly, it did not do anyone good if she beat around the bush.
The Hokage's gaze became cold, "Do you have any proof that it was a Konoha Nin?"
"Sensei, there are no foreign shinobi charted and listed in Konoha this month, are there?" Minato cut in, he shoved his hands into his pockets.
The Hokage stood up and looked at the window in the back of him, he was quiet, always calculating. "No." He turned around his expression grave and unyielding. "If there is a spy, he must have returned to Konoha, after hearing that there is a leak. He has been taking extra precautions to ensure that he is not caught. This an ANBU shinobi we are dealing with."
Sakura swallowed thickly, "ANBU?"
"ANBU shinobi are the only people capable of taking such measures." The Hokage explained, and she held her tongue.
Sakura's brows began to furrow, if he was saying was true- then that means ANBU root is behind this. But did the Hokage know that ANBU root exists? It was supposed to be top secret and undetectable. In the future the Tsunade-sama discovers root- that were under the councils orders to keep Konoha and the Hokage under power.
"Sakura." Minato's voice shook her out of her thoughts. She blinked and looked at him with questioning green orbs.
"Is there something wrong?"
She bit her lip and turned back to the Hokage. Should she, or should she not tell the Hokage? She was teetering back and forth on this conflict. The Hokage looked questioning, would this mess up the past at all?
'Well, fuck this.'
"Actually, Hokage-sama." Sakura started off, "Have you ever heard of ANBU root?"
The Hokage looked at her blankly, he sat back in his chair and sighed, "It is thought to be a conspiracy."
"Well I assure it is active. Danzo is in charge of Root, theses ANBU do not answer to the Hokage but Danzo himself. Danzo requires ANBU to carry out missions that he thinks will benefit Konoha." She explained noticing how Minato's attention was completely on her.
"You think that Danzo is behind this."
"Yes, some of the missions they carry out- are not exactly legal. My guess is that he had a few of his henchmen do the deed for him. But you see it is impossible to tell who ANBU Root is, because Danzo places a seal inside their mouth to render them from speaking of Danzo- the only way to undo the seal is to use a light jutsu or have Danzo killed." Sakura clarified, she continued when nobody said anything. "A few of his followers are Kabuto and Orochimaru."
Hiruzen stiffened. Sakura knew that the Third had his doubts about Orochimaru, he knew about his power crazed hunger, he knew that he was behind something, he knew that something was wrong. But he didn't want to admit that there in fact was.
"Minato please step outside." It was an order not a request. Blindly he obliged, wanting to know just where the hell Sakura gathered that information.
Minutes passed, and Minato was a patient man. But spending more and more time with Sakura made his tolerance waver. This was by far, the most frustrating wait. But then he forced himself to be rational. It wasn't like she was in a room full of S Classed ninjas that were itching to hurt her, she was with the Hokage. The safest person he knew before himself, well- after himself.
"Come in now Minato, and stop putting a hole in the floor." Hiruzen's exasperated voice called. He heard a giggle and scowled. He had not realized he was pacing, unconscious nervous habit.
Opening and closing the door- immediately he looked towards Sakura. She was smiling innocently, too innocently. She knew something, and Minato knew this, he respected that there were some things she did not want to tell him. That was okay. But that didn't mean he had to like it.
"Go get some rest." The Hokage stated, "It's been a long day and I do not want my best shinobi falling off into the brink of exhaustion.
Sakura pouted, but nonetheless complied.
The pinkette hummed to herself and went to grab some dango. A warm arm grabbed her forearm, and before she could even think of resisting the offending appendage- he pulled her into the deepest corner of the secluded area of the town.
"Talk." Was his only response. He pressed her into the corner of the brick building of an apartment building a few minutes away from Ichiruka. Sakura glared at him, she would not be caught in the middle of this intimidation trick.
"If that's your way of asking me a question, you're sorely mistaken." Sakura replied dryly, she crossed her arms under her chest and narrowed her jade orbs.
He responded with a scowl, "What do you know that I don't?"
Sakura pursed her lips, she can't tell him. She didn't want to tell him just yet, she had a few more things to plan out before she let that secret slide. She knew that there was something that was holding her back from screaming that this is wrong and that she needed to tell him, but her gut had put her in some sticky situations before.
That was all she could say. She did not want to tell him, even though she should. Her mind was at war, between her instincts and logic- and so far her instincts were winning. She bit her tongue at the irritation that was washing across Minato's face.
"Ah, Namikaze-san. Are you alright son?" A man asked. He was strolling through the village and stopped in between the corridor of two buildings, Minato's bright blonde hair stuck out like a sore thumb inside the dark area.
Minato's face twisted into a bright smile as he turned around, he trapped his arms around Sakura's frame, much to her exasperation. "Ah, Hatake-san. I'm fine, just trying to scare my teammate, here."
Sakura's eyebrow twitched, what the hell is with him? His mood swings were giving her a whiplash. 'Hatake-san, but wouldn't that mean- that's Kakashi's father!'
Her eyes widened as she took in her former sensei's father. White long jagged hair that was pulled back into a ponytail, warm dark eyes and this unsmiling lips. He was very handsome in a rugged manner, meaning that her sensei is totally hot.
"I see, please tell Kakashi to be home early tonight." Sakumo said, inclining his head in a suggested manner.
"Will do, sir." Minato nodded.
Sakura's mind was flooding with questions, unlike the men's polite conversation. 'Namikaze, Namikaze, Namikaze, why the hell does that name sound so familiar?'
'Maybe because a certain Hokage's last name is Namikaze.' Inner Sakura sarcastically added.
Instantly the blood drained from Sakura's face. Her mouth lost all moisture and she started to hyperventilate. Her heart decided to stop and then pound erratically. 'I KISSED THE FOURTH HOKAGE?'
This had to be a bad dream, Sakura concluded. But dear god, wasn't the Fourth married?! She paled, 'I'm a homewrecker?!'
'Calm down.' Inner commented.
'Calm down, calm down!? I kissed the Fourth Hokage and-'
'You already established that he was the Fourth when you were sparring with him.' Inner said waving it off.
Sakura blanched, 'Ah hell. Why are you so calm anyway?'
'Because the sex god in front of you is shaking you.'
Sakura blinked, "What are you doing?"
Minato could've face palmed, "What am I doing, what are you doing? You've been spaced out for nearly ten minutes!"
"Oh? Is that all you have to say?" Minato nearly exclaimed, the pinkette was infuriating him and he never loses his cool.
'You're an idiot.'
Most likely, she was starting to go insane anyway. Quickly thinking she blurted out, "I have a meeting. So, I'll uh see you later."
Since when were her responses so Naruto-like, she blamed it on the Fourth.
Before she could dash into a speeding bullet, Minato grabbed her wrist. Sakura inwardly bristled. She did not want to get tangled up in this mess, she had enough on her plate.
"Why are you running away from me?" Minato asked, there was no bite behind his words, just a simple question.
"I'm not running away." She glared, "I really do have a meeting."
No, she would not succumb and play the little lamb, she had a backbone and she was tired of acting like she didn't have one. She would not live for the angst, nor the doom and gloom. She had actual goals to accomplish and no little frat boy will be left to screw it up.
"I suppose you don't mind me tagging along, then."
Sakura's eyebrow twitched. 'He's so infuriating!'
"Fine. I don't care. Just don't bother me." Sakura bit out and snatched her wrist back. She's not pouting, she certainly is not. She stomped unlady like on the dirt path of the village. Minato curiously following behind her. She led him to the secret library and started to look for Itachi.
Where could a four year old be hiding?
"Who are you looking for?" Minato asked, his hot breath dancing against the base of her neck and she fought the urge to tremble.
"Someone." Her voice warm.
Minato raised a brow at her, but didn't say anything else. He noticed a bunch of books stacked against the wall and a candle lit on the table of the library.
"Sakura-san?" A soft voice asked.
Sakura smiled and turned. "Itachi." She stumbled on her feet, but she grabbed him under his shoulders and squeezed him.
Itachi turned a soft pink and tried to remain aloof, but he couldn't help feel happy to see the pinkette. He patted her head awkwardly and gave her a crooked smile. "It's nice to see you Sakura-san."
She laughed, "It's always good to see you, Ita-chan."
He frowned at her and peeked behind her shoulder. "Minato-san, what are you doing here?"
Minato stared at the little boy before answering, "I- I was following Sakura."
"Oh." Was the boy's answer.
Sakura placed Itachi on his feet and threw the closest thing that she could find at Minato's face, which was Itachi's pencil. "Do you know everyone?"
Minato caught the pencil before it could hit his face and answered "Yes."
His eyes burned as he looked at her. Her pink hair askew, her eyes glinting like diamonds and her body taut.
Blatantly ignoring him, she turned to face Itachi. "Did you read the books?"
He nodded, "Yes, but I don't think I memorized everything."
She waved it off, he's only four and the expectations he has for himself was ridiculous. "Itachi, you're four. I don't even expect you to remember what you ate this morning."
"But I'm an Uchiha."
"Yeah, well I have pink hair." Sakura deadpanned. She grinned when he huffed. He was just so cute to rile up. She plopped herself on the floor and leant against the corridor. She grabbed Itachi and sat him in between her legs. Minato watched her with warm eyes, his heart twisting in his chest.
Something about this picture that was being painted in front of him, tugged on his heartstrings.
"Your chakra reserves are much larger than normal four year old, but with you being heir- I kind of expected it. Before you can summon healing chakra, you need to deepen your reserves. Medical chakra and healing chakra two completely different forms. Medical chakra is blue and healing chakra is green. Medical chakra is used to heal interior wounds…"
Minato watched her, on the opposite side of her. Her interaction with his students or just with children in general made his stomach tighten into a knot.
She looked so alive.
The candle light flickered in the room, making his blonde hair and her pink hair glow. The room was quiet, despite Sakura's quiet mumbling and the occasional sounds of a page turning- Minato lowered his guard. He watched curiously, the way she would say words that even he cannot pronounce.
She smiled when Itachi poked her hands in fascination.
"Sakura-chan, it's going to be okay." Naruto said, he wrapped a blanket across her shoulders. The night was cold and bitter. Sai was in the hospital with a coma for three days. She did everything she could to wake him up, drained her chakra for a day and no results.
It was a retrieval mission.
It wasn't as bad as she thought that it could've been. She managed to put a dent in his jaw and he singed the flesh on her left hip. It was particularly amusing to watch his normally blank and aseptic face turn into shock. He had Naruto distracted with Kabuto and Sai with Orochimaru.
But Sakura was all his.
She had this memory branded into her brain. He laughed cruelly and told her, "Where is the pathetic fangirl that I left behind? Is she still trying to play ninja?"
She laughed and emerald orbs turned to stone, "She's dead. Where's my teammate, still trying become his brother?"
And was she happy to see that smile, wiped clean off his face.
"I am not my brother, Sakura." His voice cold and black.
She blinked, and then she smiled. Smiled too sweet and too feral, for anyone's likings. "But Sasuke isn't that what you've done? Murdered innocent people, betrayed their village and followed the steps of the traitor himself. You did everything he told you to." She purred, her teeth glinting in the sun.
Taunting Sasuke was a treat. His chest constricted and remained taut. His eyes narrowed and his stance deadly. He looked wild.
"Take it back, Sakura."
"Why should I? You did exactly what he told you. Remember, 'There is no value in killing the likes of you… My foolish brother… If you want to kill me… curse me! Hate me! And live a long and unsightly life… Run away… run away… and cling to your pitiful life.' That is exactly what you became." Sakura droned unpleasantly.
She knew how to be cruel, it was just a skill she had to pick up and she loved to use it on Sasuke. For all the pain and remorse he put through Naruto and her.
Sasuke roared and thrusted himself at her. She dodged gracefully and smashed her fist onto his femur. Blinded by his rage, Sasuke could barely make out the pain. Orochimaru noticed this and curved his body around Sasuke's, like a snake and flung him towards Sai.
His chidori went straight through Sai's shoulder and all Sakura could hear was his voice scream in agony, and her voice yell, "SAAAAIIII!"
It was nearing dusk and the streets lights became the only source of light. The moon hid behind the clouds and the wind was light but cool. Days like this Sakura felt herself reminiscing in the past. It was a painful memory, but a memory nonetheless. Her fingers became numb threw her gloves.
She wasn't hungry. Her hunger vanished when she remembers Sasuke. The cause of her pain and agony, but Naruto's as well. She didn't notice when Minato placed her hand on the small of her back to guide her back to the Hokage's tower, but she did notice when he snaked his hand up to the curve of her hip.
"What." Sakura's voice was black and annoyed, "Are. You. Doing?"
"Distracting you." Came Minato's sunny answer.
Sakura's eyebrow twitched, "Like this?"
Minato's eyes flickered to face Sakura, his eyes were blue blue dark sapphire blue and they burned her loins. "What would you rather me do?" His voice deepened, husky and full of depth like whiskey.
Sakura felt her mouth go dry. She really shouldn't say anything, nothing at all. But her brain was not functioning and anything that would escape her lips would be totally involuntary. The heat began to return to her fingers and her blood sang.
The hand on hip tightened to an inescapable grip. He stopped walking and he pressed herself against his front. Her hips aligned with his pelvis, her legs in between his, her hands pressed against his chest, and her chin dipping into his collarbone.
Sakura's brain turned off and the feeling of ohmygodicantbreathe surrounded her, because she couldn't. His heat and his scent suffocated her.
His soft lips trailed up against her jawline, gentle like a whisper and hot like fire. Sakura was blatantly aware of his fingers that were inching up towards her ribcage, but she couldn't function.
The small nips were the only reminder that he was the one causing this. He kissed the side where her neck and ear connect before trailing upwards to her brow. She shuddered when his lips trailed the bridge between her eyes and down towards her nose. Her eyes were open and his eyes were open and he wanted her to look at him. He wanted her to know that he, Minato is doing this and will be the only one allowed to do this. Hot blue stared into endless emerald and he gave a sharp nip to her cupid's bow.
She shouldn't be doing this. She really shouldn't be doing this. But she didn't want to stop, it was like her blood would smother her if she dare to disobey.
"Stop thinking." He murmured dangerously against her lips, she squeezed her legs together to stop the heat from traveling and oh god she was fighting a war within herself. And rebelliously she wanted to say make me.
He kissed her softly, the tips of his lips teasingly rubbed against the nerves of her lips and she so badly wanted to rub them. He pressed on her with a little more pressure, so now there lips moved slowly.
It was the type of kiss that made butter melt into the pan, the type of kiss that Sakura could melt boneless onto the floor. It wasn't burning and hot and fiery like all his other kisses was. This was the type that reminds you of home. Sitting by the fireplace on a cold winter night. It was tender and gentle.
One hand tangled into her soft pink locks, he twisted his fingers into the mane and pulled down. This gave better access towards her mouth, his tongue plunged into her mouth. Still gentle and still careful- meticulously he ran his tongue softly against the roof her mouth, the sensitive nerves twitched and she squealed.
The small sound made Minato chuckle and pull back. His lips brushing her lips again. Once and then twice. Softly, he pressed his lips back to hers in once soft kiss.
Dark blonde lashes brushed her cheekbone and he smiled. Soft and kind. And it gave her flutters in her stomach.
She blinked, dazed.
"We're late, let's go." Minato said breaking the silence, he brushed her hair from her face. His eyes softened as he looked at her innocent face.
Her words stolen, Sakura could only look at him speechless.
Inwardly proud that he had managed to keep the pinkette wordless, he had to see what the Hokage had called them for. Without forming another thought, Minato pulled her closer to him and teleported to the Hokage's tower.
The Hokage was staring eerily at his crystal ball. He didn't expect it to work, the Tomegane Jutsu was always unpredictable. Being the ever-so-curious Hokage, Hiruzen molded Kushina and Minato's chakra to find Naruto. He didn't think it would work, but he wanted to find some common ground for Sakura's sake.
A flush of leaves entered his room. Minato and Sakura appeared undaunted and waited patiently for the Hokage to speak.
"Now, Sakura-chan. I was looking into this experiment, for some help." Hiruzen started off, surprisingly he became a little nervous.
"Experiment?" Sakura asked confused, what exactly did the Hokage do?
"Sakura-chan? Sakura-chan! Is that you?" A voice exclaimed from the crystal ball. The ball stayed in place on the pillow, but the yellow blob occupying a quarter of the ball started to become sharper.
Sakura felt light-headed. She knew that voice. Relief flooded into her gates like a dam. A smile exploded on her face before she ran to the Hokage's desk. "Naruto?! Is that you?!"
She turned the crystal ball to face her. Naruto appeared, his face grinning and his blonde hair askew. "Sakura-chan!"
She grinned and saw Tsunade in the background. "Tsunade-shishou! What is going on?"
"Gaki, give me the damn ball!" She saw shuffling in the background and her Naruto groan.
"Sakura." Tsunade smiled and sighed. "I sent a few people to search for you after you disappeared. We found a shogi board smashed into pieces. That was an artifact you destroyed, missy. Actually, it was said to send people back in time to fix the future. It was just a myth, but I had a hunch that it was real. Anyway, I had a feeling that I could contact you. So I dug up my sensei's old crystal ball. But I had no idea how to use it. Then today it suddenly started flashing."
Sakura looked at the Hokage, whom was smiling sheepishly. "I thought you would like some company."
Sakura smiled gently and hugged the Hokage. "Thank you so much, Hokage-sama."
She winced and the ball suddenly flashed to Naruto. "Sakura-chan, we're trying to find a way to come back home, but I need to find the teme first."
She raised a brow, "How does Sasuke come into this."
Naruto sighed, "Apparently the damn sharingan has some time portal effects. I need him to get you back and then you can come back for my wedding and then you and Sasuke-teme can get married and revive his stupid clan."
Sakura froze when she felt Minato's chakra, it filled the room with its powerful and suffocating force. Quietly, his footsteps came behind Sakura and then he stopped.
She completely forgot about him.
Sakura was suddenly completely aware of Minato's chin on her shoulder, his hands on the side of the desk and his breath by her ear. "Married? Home? Sasuke? Naruto? What is going on, Sakura?"
Minato grazed his teeth along her cheek, and tucked his cheek into the junction between her neck and shoulder, he stared directly at Naruto.
Naruto, who grew an ashen color started to hyperventilate. "Sakura-chan?"
Sakura swallowed, "Yes Naruto?"
"Why is my father holding you?"
Sakura's heart dropped to her knees and her world went black.
Hi. I'm back and I am terribly sorry for the long wait. School started and SAT'S and College and I'm dying. I love you all so much, thank you so much for the incredible support. Please review, because my birthday was last week and I'm seventeen and not pregnant. I deserve an award. I still await fanart that has been promised, so –smiles- see you in the next chapter.
