Disclaimer: If I owned Hetalia history would sit in a corner and cry.

(Matt's POV)

Gil has been acting very strange for the last couple of days and not just his normal (awesomeness) strange either. He hardly looks at me or talks to me, stuttering slightly or spacing out and then looking away with what looks like a blush (I didn't even know ghosts could blush!) when we do talk. But it's really confusing because I've never seen him act this way. I'm kinda worried about him, but at the same time it is pretty fun to watch him be the one blushing for a change. I mean, normally I'm the one who looks away blushing and he teases me with that stupid smirk on his face and that mischievous glint in his eyes and that wonderfully strange cackle of a laugh and- I started blushing at the direction my thoughts were heading. I've known for a few weeks now that I might have a tiny bit of a crush on my housemate/best friend/ghost of sorts that's nicely hunting me. I mean, I know that nothing could happen between us for obvious reasons, but that doesn't bother me as much as I it should have. I don't even care that I would never be able to go on a date or even kiss him, I just love being with and around him. He could brighten any room with just a few words and a smile and I love that about him.

Okay so maybe I have more than a little crush, but that's beyond the point. The point is that somehow I've gone and gotten myself infatuated with a fucking ghost and I have no clue how this is going to work out. I mean, I don't even know if he likes me that way! I do know that he's gay, though but that doesn't automatically mean he likes me back that way. Even if he does flirt and hints at it; Feliks does the same thing and Alfred does that with some of his friends that I know he only likes as friends. But back to Gilbert and how I have no chance because he just had to be dead. I honestly think I'm the only person to have ever had to deal with something like this. I mean really? How many times do you hear about someone falling in love with a ghost? Cars, cows, siblings, houses, shoes, you name it. But a ghost? No you never hear about something like that happening. Which means I can't really go to anyone for help, not I would really want to, I mean you try explaining to someone that you fell in love with ghost.

(Author's POV)

Matthew stared down at his smoothie, swirling his straw around as he continued thinking about his housemate when he was rudely brought out of his thoughts by a poppy seed muffin to the forehead. He yelped and looked up at the source of the food which was sitting across from him in the form of a very irritated looking Italian and Pole with a knowing smile on his face. He glared at them and threw the muffin back. "You didn't have to throw it you know, could've just called my name or something." he said brushing some crumbs out of his hair and off his face. Feliks' smile grew into a smirk as he set his elbows on the table, resting his head in his hands. "We called it, like, five times Mattie," Matthew blushed slightly and ducked his head. "So, who ya thinking about, hmm?" Matt looked away and started drinking his smoothie while Lovi rolled his eyes and Feliks sat up excitedly. "I so knew you liked someone! So tell us, who's the lucky guy?" Lovino shook his head lightly before looking at Matt expectantly. "You can't keep something like this from us for long, maple jerk. Might as well just come out and tell us."

Matthew's eyes widened slightly as he started messing with the hem of his shirt. "I don't know what you two are talking about. I was just thinking about a… a TV show. I don't like anyone like that." The two sitting across from him looked at each other for a minute, their expressions changing slightly, while Matt sat with his smoothie held in both hands as he drank, glad that they left him alone to his thoughts for at least a little. After a few more exasperated sighs and eye rolls, the duo looked back at him and smirked. "Come on Matt, you know you can't lie to us or anyone really. We know what that look means, don't look at me like you don't know what I'm talking about, any time you space out or "just think" you get this smile on your face and you blush a little and your eyes seem brighter." Feliks started chuckling and tried to cover his mouth with his hands. Lovino glared at him before slapping his arm. "Feliks stop snickering! It's not helping and you know it's true!" He turned back to Matt and slammed his hands on the table causing the other two to flinch slightly. "Listen Matt, it's a lot easier if you just come out and admit it; we'll find out one way or another and you know it so just tell us already."

Matthew thought for a minute as he continued looking around. After a few minutes he looked back up and the two were still looking at him expectantly and he sighed setting his cup down on the table and sitting up. "Okay, fine you caught me, I like someone! And yes, Feliks, he's a guy." 'Kinda.' He whispered under his breath. "But if either of you tell Alfred I will shove my hockey stick so far up your ass you can't walk correctly for a week." The two nodded, knowing that their friend was too nice and would only yell at them for five, maybe ten minutes. After making sure his point got across he continued, "Since I already know you two far better than I wish I did, you're gonna want to hear about him, huh?" Again they nodded, leaning in closer this time as if it were some great big secret. (And in Matthew's mind, it was.) "Well, he's a few centimeters taller than me and pretty well toned. He has beautiful snowy-grey hair and eyes that are sort of hard to describe; they're like rubies, but with a bit of violet. And he's really funny and has an awesome smile that's normally more of a smirk; his laugh is really strange because it's almost like a cackle and a laugh? Oh! Also he's German, well Prussian if you ask him even though Prussia doesn't even exist, so he has a rough sounding voice that I could listen to all day." He quickly cut himself off and his blush returned full force as he realized what all he had just said about his friend. He looked over at Lovino and Feliks who sat with their eyes wide and jaws open. Never, in all the time they had known Matthew, had he ever talked about anyone like that not even in the seventh grade when he thought he was in love did he talk about someone like that. He sunk lower in his seat as the two smiled widely and rested their chins in their hands. "You're in love."
